The wife's P-47 (pics)

Thought I’d share these images with you guys. Its a 1/72 Academy P-47 built by my wife Donna. Its her first kit so please be gentle. [;)]

It looks very good to me!!! I wish I could do so good!!!
I have that very kit waiting to be built, did she have any problems with the decals? I’ve heard bad, bad things about Academy’s 'cals (thanks everyone)[:P] but I got this kit for the colorful nose art.

I know what I like when I see it. I like it! Pass on my congratulations.[;)]

Well, it just looks great! I think we better start doing some knitting or something like that…

Congrats!

Congratulations for a great P-47 build and congratulations for having a wife who share the hobby!

“mrs allan” [:p] hi[:)],
that’s absolutely superb, first kit or otherwise!!![8D][8D][8D]
small but perfectly formed as they say!![:0]
regards,
nick

Whoa. That’s incredible! Good job, Mrs. Allan!! My first model was a sad lump of plastic and fogged clear peices… I guess it helps to have allan around with an airbrush! What scale is it in and what did you use for the metal? Tell us what your next project is and allan, get her to sign up!!! [:)]

Thanks, guys! Donna sends her thanks and wholehearted appreciation.

Adam,

The decals are fine, fortunately. Donna didnt have much trouble trying to make them conform. Although a closer look shows that some edges cracked up, probably because of the handling. Looking back, Id hate to imagine what would have happened if the decals she used were either too thick or wont stick, or both!

Dj,

I lulled little Mikhaila to sleep, hows that? Pretty soon I’d be doing the dishes! [V][;)][:D]

Shrikes,

Thanks, my friend. The kit posted here is in 1/72. She used Gunze Silver (mine) on it using a Tamiya HG (also mine)[:O]. Shes currently working on a 1/72 F-6F Hellcat although its taking her a longer time to do between work and our daughter. Shes still a bit shy signing up here but do read the posts from time to time.

Hmmm… I need a fall back in case the baremetal foil doesn’t turn out so good. Oh, and i like your signature, by the way! [:)]

Looks great, Donna deserves a big pat on the uuuh back, yeah.

Nice work!
I’ve noticed a lot of pix posted recently of first models that look better than my last model!

Outstanding job Donna. You go girl! Jump in here under your own signature, you have nothing to be shy about. Remember that about 15 world recognized aviation records are still held by Amelia Earhart (they always will be because they were “FIRSTS”).

Jackie Cochcran was the founder and driving force behind the Women’s Air Service Pilots (WASP). So again, don’t be shy and join in.

Alan, let the lady speak for herself! rangerj

Looks really great! I’m still trying to get to that level and I’ve build 3 or 4 so far. Though I’ve only completed 2 so far. How long did it take for that silver to dry?

Great stuff, Donna!

My first model was a dud from the begining. Come to think of it, the last model I completed was an “also ran” at best.

Fortunately for me, it looks like the next thing to roll out of the “CFB Upnorth” hangar might come close to the superior quality of your P-47 there.

Donna, great work on my favorite airplane! Good job! Can’t wait to see the Hellcat!

hey Allen;
well tell your wife she’s done a great job for the first time out, I’ve been doing this stuff for years and my first kit never looked like that[banghead] tell her to keep it up and we’ll be seeing her work on the pages of FSM Gallery

My wife is a step ahead, Allan… I’m doing the dishes already…

I take it you’re dipping all the plates, glass and silverware in Future to get a real good shine on them when you’re done , right?[:D]

Hey Donna, you build em better that i do already. great work. Greg

Hehehe… [:D] just as long as you don’t “weather” the plates and glasses, or you’ll defeat the purpose of cleaning them…
