The Weapons. The Target

Let the fun begin.

Where’s all the filler you’re gonna need on that beast? [;)]

Fade to Black…

I don’t anticipate using much. The fuselage & wing halves aren’t warped. Dryfitting doesn’t show gaps anywhere. I’ll trim the bulkheads if I need, and the Tenax will probably take care of the rest. I’ll be dryfitting the interior components & fuselage halves as I go to keep the fit.
I was surprised when I saw how well the main components fit, for such large pieces.

Filler? Nah ! We won’t need much stinking filler ! [(-D]

how about primer PIX??[:D][:D]

feli250 - its the bottle on the far right.

Here’s what the fuselage seams look like.

wow. Huge project.

Lots of plastic and lots of paint. Looking forward to some progress pics.

Mine turned out well, hardly any seems. Good luck with it!

see ya next year bill!!![:D] wait a minute, i’m talking to the model making machine…see ya next week bill!![:o)] i’ll definetly be anticipating the progress pics pix. have fun. later.

ps. that gloss black base from alclad is sweet my friend, i’ll surely use it from now on as i’m stripping down a stang because of krylon abuse. i’ve never had good luck with decanting anything from an aerosol can and spraying it through my airbrush.[V] but, that could all be on me and most likely is because there a alot of people using krylon gloss black successfully. later.

Hmm I have the fort and it is a seam nightmare. Tell ya what I’ll keep my Squad white putty on standby for ya [;)]

Hey Pix, why don’t you join the Monogram Group Build? We’re having loads of fun!

Pix,

Why do you tease us? Just do it as you usually do and it will come out fantastic as it always does. Your talen is fantastic. Waiting to see the progress photos.

Richard

All you need is to build an extension to your workbench & buy a very large spray booth. I built one in 1/72, but in 1/48 it’s a monster ! Good luck on the build.

I built that baby a few years back, Actually when my wife was in the hospital after giving birth. A whloe can and 1/2 of aluminum buff. Are ya gonna use the Atom bombs? Or is it not in the kit anymore.

pix my friend if anyone can make a revell/monogram look outstanding you can. cant wait to see your progress on this monster.

joe

Pix,

That is quite a kit there.
Maybe I can get you a deal on a Badger 400 to paint it with?

Mike

Sweet! It’ll be fun to see in progress pics of this one! You know, you can join the Monogram GB, the Natural Metal Finish GB, and the Medeum and Heavy Bomber GB all with one model!! [;)]

my dad won’t let me have that project yet because of how big it is, and i don’t blame him, i don’t think im ready for that much plastic yet. im having enough trouble as it is with a B-17G

I’ve got one of these parked in my garage attic. that box sure takes up alot of space!!.. I’ve got the old monogram kit. had it for years. just waiting to find a place to put it once I build it. might have to sell the wifes vw so I have a place to park it. semper fi, mike

So, does the decal sheet have a “censored” bar across the nose art like the box art does?

I’ve wondered that since this reissue hit the shelves

Thanks for the enthusiasm, everyone ! [:I]

This is a HUGE kit. The dimensions on the finished bird are a length of 24 3/4" and a wingspan of 35 1/4" !

woodbeck3 - I’ve also got plenty of CA for filler. Never had any luck with putties. They always pitted on me, and took forever to dry. CA is the best stuff for seams I’ve ever used. I don’t like the accelerators, though.

roadkill - I’m doing this as an on-line build at IPMS/USA. I’ll be posting progress pics & links to the review.

Richard - Thought I’d do something a little different. I post so many builds-in-progress, I wanted a little change.[8D]

thundergod - both “Fat Man” and “Little Boy” are included, but there are no decals for “Enola Gay” or “Bock’s Car.” It also includes the props for those.

Mike V -[(-D] that would come in handy for the primer coats ! I think that priming this baby will be the most labor-intensive part (aside from “Tenaxing” the fuselage seam 1/2" at a time !)

upnorth - yes, the decal sheet has the “Censored” bar (it was probably on the original plane - complaints were made about the revealing noseart at the end of WW II, so Koprean War birds were most likey “less explicit.”) Here’s the decal sheet

But with printing like this, I’m going to use this WW II era one

I’ll be sure to keep everyone up-to-date as this beast takes shape !
