What I did first was to apply a liberal amount of epoxy to both intake halves and clamped the parts together. Then to make sure the seam was eliminated, I applied more epoxy at the joint. When the epoxy cured,I repainted the ducts flat white.Worked well.
A long time back there was a good discussion about what changes/modifications needed to be made to make this kit into a Canadian VOODOO. I have done the Hawk One Canadian VOODOO and have decals for the Lynx and Electric Jet (all black Canadian VOODOO) Does anyone know if there are decals for the lark (red and blue) Canadian VOODOO. I found this kit to be a nice build. There is a real F-101B on display at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti MI.
I seem to recall that article in one of my back issues of FSM.I will have to go through them and try to find it.I will use the Texas ANG decals included it in the kit!
I had a bit of a delay due to my youngest graduating from high school(3.88 gpa NHS) and the holiday cookout.Assembled and installed the cockpit.I found it easier to install the rear instructment panel after the cockpit was mounted up because the radar scope has to fit to the side of the fuselage.

Congrats on your kid graduating. My eldest begins High School this school year.
The Voodoo looks great too!
Thanks!due to her hard work she has received several scholarships that will cover her schooling!

These old Monogram kits are fantastic. Even though the molds are decades old, they still have excellent molded detail. Yours is looking very good and you should not have any problems. Mine had minor waves along the seam lines but it was all easily corrected with sanding and polishing.
I did mine a while back for a NMF GB. It did not need any filler at all. I used Tenax in a Touch N Flow applicator which after sanding makes all the seams invisible. I used Alclad for the NMF, mixing two colors to vary the tone in a few panels. I also used the kit decals that had to be tamed with Solvaset. It was done OOB except for the fuselage light which I replaced with a gadget from Michaels or HL.
Don’t mean to hijack the thread but just wanted you to see mine

Thanks!I am impressed with the fit so far.Your version looks great!I was a little concrned about installing the cockpit from undrneath but it worked well.
Guys I have some nasty gaps at the wing joints!Brings back bad memories of my Airfix B
uccaneer.What a pain!
Yes,now I will have to start body work,my lest favorite part if modeling.
Yes, i can relate. Unfortunatly, this sort of thing has become a regular part of my builds as well.
I gotta buy better kits.
Yeah,I applied the putty last night and will sand it off today. No gaps on the bottom though.
Remember guys, these are old school Monograms and may need some TLC. I don’t remember having any gaps when I built mine. It could be because it was an original Monogram boxing and the molds were not worn out as in the case of the Revell re boxing?
I would stretch some sprue and drop it in the gap then hit it with thin liquid cement. Or use some PPP and fill the gap, let it cure for 1/2 hour then wipe the area with a wet Q Tip leaving a clen fill with no sanding.
Still, with whatever technique you so choose to go with in reference to gaps, your build is moving along nicely. Can’t wait for the next update.

Thanks for the tips guys!i wet sanded with 320 grit and the seams have been dealt with.I taped off the area to minimize loss of surface detail .
assembled the burner cans and painted them steel.I will leave them off until painting is done.i was surprised at the extreme dihederal of the horizontal stabs but the instructions indicate this is how they were.(hope this is correct as it was a bit of pain to make both of them match.)I assembled the nose cone and will fill it with lead shot to prevent tail sitting.Front landing gear was also installed.
Your Voodoo is coming along quite nicely. I have no doubt that all your hard work will pay off resulting in a stellar model. [Y]
I sure hope so!I used CA to attach the weighted nose cone.I decided to let gravity help me as it worked well on my P-61.The 2 clamps are th
ere to prevent the model from toppling over.
Wow1the wings sure are short in proportion to the length of the fuselage.Reminds me of the Mig 21.I guess that can work only if the engines are extremely powerful.
well, it did have the infamous “pitch up” issue…
looking real nice so far.
