Aaronw has hit the nail on the head and exposed my little secret see Future GB from Vintage
Aircraft, except this will be on a much larger scale, this build will involve this forum, The armor
forum, and the ship forum.It would encorporate the battles fought in WW2, on lad Sea, and air, and would encorporate the major battles EX: Midway, battle for Britian, and D-Day [It would be spread over 2-3 months for each battle, and possibly start
a new one after two months but allow 3 months to finish each, that way the subject keeps
changing but the slower builders still have a reasonable amount of time to finish a build. Thus the entire war could be compacted into 1 maby 2 years. (Quote from Aaronw) ]. Now I think this might be a bit complicated, But it would be neat to try and replicate the major units that actually fought in these battles. Like The Zemik Wolf Pack, for that group the builders would only build the aircraft that served under that group, and maby Im getting a little too demanding here, but not doubles of anything, more than one type of aircraft, ship, or armor is acceptable, but what Im talking about is like only one Big Beutiful Doll is allowed in the entire build. For navy aircraft ( lets say carriers for discussions sake) only one of each of the carriers that operated will be
allowed in, then a person has to choose what carrier they want to build an aircraft from, they resarch it and build it making shure no one else wants to build that same aircraft. This goes same for the aromor forces. The common
scale for aircraft would be 1/48, unless the aircraft being modeled is not available in 1/48 then it can be modeled in the scale that the aircraft is avaiable in. For bombers due to the short start to finish time any scale will be acepted so
as not to rush the builder. For Armor the common scales will be in 1/35, and 1/32, again if not available in these scales any scale will be acceptable. Ships, since you are a little different and there is no truly wildy used common
scale any scale will do.

This is just the rough sketch of things to come, and I am open to suggestions. If the build is to be a sucess planning should start by next month. It will be hard to get it up and running and I will need other prople to help me, but it should be the largest group build ever devised, and it will be fun.

Sounds interesting. So just to make sure that we’re on the same page, what your proposing isn’t neccisaraly one giant group build, but a series of related group builds with a very concentrated focus? If that is the case, it would make it easier for people who are interested in a specific topic or have a limited amount of money / time. If and/or when you get that started, I’m in!

That sounds like a great idea, and very ambitious! Do you mean we would have a group of group builds. Each one building a different unit? I’m in too!

Yep thats exactly what it is.

Each battle will be a group build, and then in that build there will be sub group builds replicating the units that had fought in the battle, so you are correct.

I’ll do it, but I would really like to do 1/72 scale. If I can’t, no big deal.

A two year long WWII GB. [:o] That is certainly unique subject matter, do you think anyone will be able to locate accurate kits/accessories from that period? [(-D]
…Buy a P-51 and Bf-109, along with about 12 different decal sheets for each, then to Lowe’s for some Steel Wool and a couple three cans of Easy Off… yep, I’m ready! [:-,]

[:D] Seriously, I STILL have five models in my stack and four on my desk that I must attend to. Three of these require / will require a lot of complex modifications and homemade accessories to be acceptable (no PE or Resin sets available), so I’ll pass on this one.

I’m game for this. I have plenty of German and US aircraft on the shelf, even a few British. It’ll give me an excuse to build something Japanese or maybe even some armor and figures.
