The Tasca Sherman....

…Was probably the best kit i have ever built. The finess of the moldings was like nothing i have ever dreamed of, and the detail was twice as good as dragons. Overall, the kit practiclly put itself together. I only had one gap- where the tranny cover meats the front hull. A bit of putty and all was fine. Another fit problem was the lower half of the turret stuck out a millimeter or two beyond the upper shell. This lip was easily sanded off and blended to the turret. I was skeptical about the tracks, as i normally dont like ruber-band types, but the detail was excellent (even had the gaps in between the links) and they fit fine with the idler wheel extended all the way back. The .50 is a work of art- the main recaiver is molded on a peg. Just slide the gun back and it will slip off the sprue- no sanding or shapping required! And best of all- the cooling jacket is hollow, so the cooling holes are actually, well, holes! When added to the cupula, it creates the crowning jewel on an almost perfect kit.

All you modelers who are put off by the hefty price tag- dont be. The second you open the box and cut the sprue will assure you that this kit was worth every penny. Watch out Tamiya T-55- The Tasca Sherman might take your slot as “the greatest kit in plastic” Now if only Tasca will do an M4 Sherman with a welded hull…

(I am not a rep of Tasca, just a VERY satisfied costomer)

They have done a few welded hull Shermans- they have releases M4A4/Sherman V, both the Firefly and 75mm variant, and they just released an initial production M4A2/Sherman III. If I can find one on sale I will get one but for now the price is out my range.

I’m on my third Tasca Sherman – quite by accident. I was sent the new Sherman III DV as a review sample. I shot some pics of some components I quickly cobbled together. And then I couldn’t stop. Four days later, and I’ve superdetialed the guy and it’s almost ready for painting.

I’ll have a finicky tweaks list for the kit coming soon.

My previous two were the Firefly VC and the Sherman II DV

You guy`s are lucky.I am in the UK and gave up trying to get one here!!!

To all,

Thanks for the comments about Tasca model kits. I thought I had lost my marbles when I ordered a fifty dollar kit of the Sherman Firefly from Squadron Shop, and that was the sale price. Now all I have to do is build it–Regards Bob

I’ve got the Sherman II DV that I’ve yet to start…If anyone has color matches I’d appreciate it.
