The Rebel Vette

Hi,

I built this for the automotive group build, and I thought I’d share it here as well. It’s the Monogram Rebel 'Vette kit, built OOB with the kit decals. The detail is really good on it, and the decals did as well as they could with all those compound curves (I banged on them with Solvaset[bnghead]). The front window frame was crushed, and had to be glued to the roof. A little history: the real car placed first in the 12 hours of Sebring, and at the 24 hour Daytona race. The red, to be entirely accurate (though I used a different color) is Ferrari red, as a backdoor agreement allowed the Rebel and it’s sister vette to race due to Ferrari giving up two of it’s starting spots for them. Thanks for looking!

Glenn

Beautiful…

Nice, nice,nice! Great build…

Nice job Glenn-I do have a question-did you scratch build the headlight assembly or is that the kit supplied assembly? I have the ‘Stars & Stripes’ version in the stash and if memory serves me correct, the kit supplied parts are no where near as nice as what you have done with your 'vette.

Nice work. The #57 Rebel has been restored and is known to make the rounds of the major Corvette venues. Google > Images will kick up pics.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, y’all!

Bob, it’s the kit supplied assembly, and looking at the “Stars & Stripes” review on Cybermodeler, my 'vette has the same decals/clear plastic cover as yours, only mine had a decal simulating the tape that sealed off the light covers.

Mike, thanks for the google heads up, I could’ve sworn I saw a pic with the driver holding his sabre out of the window (Chaaarrrgggeee!!!)

Thanks Glenn-looking at the kit/decals in the box, I didn’t think I would be satisfied with the headlamp covers but yours looks great…might have to pull it out of the stash, order some decals from V-R-M (not crazy about the Stars & Stripes theme…) and give it a go…

Again, great job on the build…well done.
