The OFFICIAL Panzer III and Its Variants GB

Carlos- Thanks for the reminder! [Y] Good thing we still have four month left. Good luck with the move and hope it will not damage any of your built models.

Deafpanzer - It’s done … used some dark mud (MIG) and once dry, brush away until I think it’s right, finally went back over the vehicle with a mixture of dark mud and light dust to finish it up. Photo below after initial application, when its still wet.

Apply dark mud using more water along up fenders and build it up.

Back end lower hull same technique

Left it over night to dry and then brush the road wheels, lower hull, track to remove until I felt it looked about right. Photos below after bushing and then applied mix light dust and dark mud on top side upper hull and turret.

I have the Dragon / DML 2 in 1 Smart Kit 6463 (Pz III Ausf. J) and can build with either long or short 50 mm. Likely can’t start for a week or so and should finish by mid-July. Armor86

That’s a hot build right there - REALLY like how your weathering came out, as well as your spare tracks…just the right amount of rust & dust.

Check another one off the list!

Armor86 fantastic weathering job !!!

Armor86- WOW! [Y] Beautiful build… agree with guys about your weathering job. I am so glad you have signed up because you and everybody else has made this GB fun.

This is my favorite shot of your Panzer…

Of course you can tell me which picture you want me to use in our Hall of Fame. Maybe take another picture with nothing in the background or take it outside.

As of now nobody has signed up for Pz III Ausf J, it is yours if you are interested. Like I said I can extend our GB little longer if we really want to close all gaps. Right now, Pz III J, Pz III K, Flammpanzer and StuG III C/D are vacant. Like Dupes said, he will take one of them. I might too. I need to check with Satch Ip if he is still planning to do Ausf K. So it looks like Ausf J is still available at the end…

Just let us know if you are interested to take on Ausf J. It will be FUN and trust me we will stay with you til the end.

Everyone’s done (or still doing) such great work here… seems like ages ago that I completed the micro pz III… I still do like to pop in and see what is going on and toss in a comment now and then.

[Y] to everyone

And a big thanks to Andy for hosting too!!

Bill

deafpanzer - enclosed some better shots with less background. Sign me up on the Pz III Ausf J. Will start it within 2 weeks. Armor86

Armor86- Yes, I like the pictures much better… thank you for doing this. I like the first picture best so I will use that for the hall of fame rooster if you are cool.

I am so happy that you have decided to build Pz III Ausf J! It means there are only three vacant slots left…

  • Panzer III Ausf K
  • Flammpanzer
  • StuG C/D

Dupes offered to take one of them. There is a local model show Roscoe Turner IMPS coming up this weekend I will keep eyes for an Ausf K kit. Maybe a Flammpanzer? I will work with Dupes… anybody else interested for the challenge?

Just checked out all three of those boxes…the Ausf. K and StuG C/D would be OOB builds, but the Flammpanzer has an RB Barrel, Eduard etch set, and a box o’ Friuls if that influences you at all Andy.

[whstl]

Dupes- Oh boy you do have everything in your stash? HUH? [:P] That Flammpanzer kit sounds like a fun build but it is your call. You recently built a Pz III and StuG so maybe you are in a flaming mood to build a Flammpanzer. LOL

Why don’t we wait until this weekend after my trip to a local model show… ‘Roscoe Turner’ IMPS. So we can see what I can find something… I am really itchin’ to build a Pz III so hopefully I can find an Ausf K kit at the show.

I will forget about Panzer III Ausf E that I signed up as my second build because Mike (Streetfightingman) is still working on his Ausf E but it was put on hold because of school study and he said he will finish it before GB ends. I talked with him recently and he got 4.0 GPA and he has been accepted to University of Wisconsin which is great for him.

Ogrejohn will be there so he will help me look for an Ausf K… John, hope you are reading this… [whstl]

Hi DP,

I might have a combo to offer that might not have appeared yet – a StuH 42 with waffle zim (never done that one before) in winter scheme (nor that) and mud (nor that) with schkurtzen and figures…

Interesting?

M/TB379

Thunderbolt- YES! That would be GREAT if you can do StuH 42 with waffle zim in winter scheme! You are correct about Pz III Ausf L… couple have been built already and one more is on its way I think. It will be more interesting and fun for us to follow your StuH 42 build.

Now you got me all excited… [:P]

Right, I can order up the Cavalier zim set, and I’ve been researching figures, there’s resin ones by Tank and a few others that might be applicable from other outfits…

Cheers, wanted to do this one for a long time,

Mike/TB379

alrighty gents, here she is, my beo with added schurzen. man all that photo etch was a pain. its not all that great but i learned a few valuable lessons on this one. mainly i got alot better at glue control. as well i am getting a little better at bending. i really need to get one of those bending tools. top of my purchase list. also my hands just werent all that into it this time as well. you’ll see in the extra pics my 1/1 scale 1966 ford mustang. i just completed rebuilding the motor. over a period of three weeks at around four hours a night. i tried to get her as clean and detailed as my money permitted. dont think i did too bad… now she’ll run another 50 years. now i can rebuild my 71 vw superbeetle motor. then on to body work. oh and by the way. if anyone ever gives you a hassle on rusting out exhaust systems. show them this pic. my exhaust manifold is completely rusted out three days after turning her over… i spent two days grinding off all the grime and repainting it only to have it look like that again… i have to get a new one in a while anyways, so ill just have it ceramic coated… [View:/themes/fsm/utility/Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App:550:0]

Mike- You will like the details on resin figures from Tank. I have few in stash and I used one already for my current build StuG Ausf F/8… check it out.

Little pricey but they look great especially the details.

Please feel free to post a picture of your StuH kit box when you have the chance. Is it a Dragon kit? I will update the build list when I have the chance. Thanks again… looking forward to have you aboard! [Y]

malone duke- We posted at the same time. [:P] What a beauty!!! Your mustang… I have to say it is 100 times better looking than any of my builds. Thanks for posting great pictures! [B]

Your Beo is looking GREAT! [Y][Y] Loaded with PE and aftermarket parts. Can’t wait to see your next update… I have revised the build list from Ausf K to Beo Ausf H. Glad you are still with us.

Andy – it’s the Tamiya StuG III, it has the StuH 42 option right in the box. Will snap the box top and post asap!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

That’s cool deaf panzer … The 2 in 1 Dragon 6463 will initial start the same way … back end will be different and the main gun L60 … north africa theater. Have a new reference book ‘Panzer III’s in North Africa’ … Armor86

Mike/TB- OHHHH, a Tamiya kit? [Y] It will be a nice change for us because we have seen a lot of Dragon and CyberHobby kits here. Looking forward to this and the picture of the box artwork.

Armor86- I am always a big fan of North Africa campaign and I am surprised there hasn’t been a GB for more than three years. Desert sand always look on Panzers! Did you see wBill’s camo job on his Bison in the armors forum? Wondering if Panzer IIIs had those camo jobs too? [whstl]

Andy – here’s the kit:

!(http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn48/MikeTheModeller/Tamiya StuG III/DSCF7746a.jpg)

I didn’t have to photograph the box, I remembered I already had this shot on Photobucket from when i built it in 2008 for The Hunters GB. That time I did a straight StuG III/G of the Stug Brigade of the Grossdeutschland, IIRC, without skirts, hatches closed, and featuring Echelon decals for Kursk.

I enjoyed doing a Cavalier zimmerit job on a Tamiya StuG IV about two years ago so it’s time to have another go. I remember this kit builds like a breeze, and I’m looking forward to it, especially to exploiting the range of possibilities in the box.

Cheers, Mike/TB379
