Rules:

Any scale and topic. Armor, Aircraft, Choppers, Vehicles, Figures.

Must be directly related to the topic. Your model must have markings from the conflict (either Desert Storm of Operation Iraqi Freedom). Example: You may build a F-15 of course, but Tiger Meet markings wouldn’t qualify. You would need unit markings from an active duty outfit during said conflict.

Crossovers welcome. My ideal would be 30% completion; however, if you have a build you want in we can discuss your progress and make a decision on case by case basis.

If you know, or can dig up any information about your specific aircraft or vehicle please share. Example: You build up an F-18 that shot down a Mig; give us some backgroud.

Post WIP pics and keep the conversation going. Be cordial.

Running time: Start date is as of now; whenever you’re ready to join. This will be an informal group build with no strict end date. This is to ensure maximum participation. Many are interested but currently over committed.

Too many good GBs running already!!! Yes I am most interested, have plenty of appropriate kits in my stash, and want to partake, but as usual, I am overcommited already!
BTW, I have a sidelined F-117 that would be perfect, but I am past the 30% point and should get that done before starting any new ODS build…
I know what you mean about the number if GBs going, stick. I’m not hard and fast on the 30%. I figure the point of a GB is to share work/process and “bond” over a common interest. I don’t like the idea of “oh here’s a pic of my completed build,” as long as some work gets shown.
Gunner: sounds great any ideas on kit.
Well the 117 is a simple build overall, and mine is around 50% of gluing done (basic airframe done). But all the finishing will be a big part of complete so I would put it at in the 40%-50%… not just decals on and here it is… [;)]

I am cool with the level of progress. I’d love to see how you finish it. Which kit is it? A few years back I did the Tamiya 1/48 kit. I was putting some black ok and it was too wet so I hit it with a hair dryer and warped the wing. I was a wee bit younger and impatient. I don’t think I would have been happy either way with finish. I’ve seen some amazing black finishes, but I have no idea how they make it look not just monotone.

Might do my uncles chinook, might do a Canadian CF-18, or something else
I’m in!`not sure what kit yet but I can make a Badge 
Gunner: CF-18 would be neat. I find some of their markings very attractive. No rush on making a decision.
Pilot: If you want to make some badges that’d be great. I think one with an F-177 would be cool. Front profile with the sunset behind it or something. That would be cool to start. I can think of so many awesome subjects. I think I may pull out my Apache at some point.
Far beyond my skill, but would be cool idea for someone to do up that A-10 that was shredded to pieces but still made it home safely.

i got the revell kit in the stash. i was looking at markings for the “saddam hunters” but it’s for OIF not desert storm.
got a revell hog also. i like the green camo over the ghost gray.

Well I was going to get the F-15 regardless, lol. I didn’t know anything about the markings in the kit, so I was scouring the online for some DS decals. Got home with the kit today to find that it has markings for the Eagle that shot down a heli with a laser guided bomb. I’d heard the story before and I just don’t see how I could not build it!
Like everyone else , I’m already over committed to a number of on-going Group Builds but as it happens I did start a couple of 1/72 Desert Storm builds a few days ago and this is where I’m at thus far ;

There’s a little more work done on the Hobbyboss CH-46E/F Seaknight with the fuselage insides painted and windows glued in along with most of the interior painted and ready to glue in place inside the fuselage
I’ll be using some spare decals from the Hobbycraft CH-46 kit with a sand and brown camouflage scheme
So if it’s okay to join in , I’ll continue on building and posting pic’s .

How about changing it to a Middle East GB of all modern campains over there?
Yeah I’m thinking that it could be extended to include the current conflicts. Something like “War in the Gulf” or something.

Heli, you’re more than welcome to jump in here. You can crossover. I’d just copy/paste your updates from your other GB. That works great. I’ll get you on the roster when I can get to my computer.
