The Official Annual FSM/AMPS East Bragging Rights Thread

GREAT JOB on taking home the hardware, that nekkid 1/2 track definately deserved a gold. Far as the forums go the lack of posting could be due to the fact modeling itself is kind of in a vegitative state. Personally with a move to No. Cal (or now the family is telling me there’s a possibility of a house opening in TX) coming up no later than the end of the year, I haven’t had any projects going which in turn leads to a lower rate of posting on forums.

SMJ!!!

How are ya, man? I’m bummed that you couldn’t make it. It would have been great to see you. What’s it been, two years? Three?

Anyways, yes, I did enter some stuff: an SdKfz 222, a JGSDF Type 87, a Stug III E, and a Gundam fig. The 222 earned gold, the Stug and Gundam each earned a silver. The Type 87b qualified for a Bronze but was in the same category as the 222.

I’ll try to get some pics up soon.

Sadly[:'(] I’ve missed the last THREE shows!

Cool!, and please do…post them like Marc did for the intro to this tread so we can see what award went with each.

Hi SMJ [:D]

I had missed a few years myself … I just wasn’t able to go… I would be happy to put some pictures up for you man…I’ll get some time tonight[:)]…I’ve been seeing some of the weathering and the rail road stuff you have been doing…very cool[Y]

talk to ya soon

tread[H]

Congrats, Marc. beautifully finished and well deserved.

Not quite vegatative, but certainly highly reduced activity level compared to a couple years back.

Exellent work and Congratulations to you East Coasters… [t$t] Very well done! Absolutley gorgeous work there! [:P] I can imagine that it was far more impressive to see up close and personal. Us West Coast AMPS guys are dreaming and scheming to have a shindig on this side of the country one day soon…[whstl]

Yup… I just look at the other forums - the last post in Dios was over 12 hours ago. In Autos, nearly the same. Before this post, no one had posted in armor for over 15 minutes - not a long time, granted, but not something you would have seen during ‘prime time’ hours a few years ago.

You know, my concern is that in dropping the hammer on all the “disrupters”, out of fear that people would be turned off and leave the site, FSM has inadvertantly turned people off and driven them away from the site…

Ah well…

Agreed my friend.

That actually happened on Scale Auto and now last time I popped in there hadn’t been a post in one of the normally heavy flow sections for 2 days…Seeing alot of folks who’s names I remember from old SA on other forums these days because they either got banned or just got fed up and left.

Yeah this forum is way too overmodded. Granted I know it’s all mostly old folk but the ban hammer and all that lame s h i t isn’t all that cool. It’s no fun when you can’t speak your mind with the threat of getting slammed with a ban.

Is that another Kalmbach site?

SMJ - I had two entries, a silver and bronze. As I have stated in the past, for me it is not the medals but being with my fellow modelers and sharing a weekend of experiences that makes the show for me.

Stick - I would agree that forum participation has dropped off. I don’t think it is a function of FSM but a general trend in the hobby. This show had the highest number of entries since 2008. I think the economy has hit all hobbies hard. I see a similar drop off say on Armorama. Talk to the vendors at shows…they are dying. I am in charge of the show raffle and many manufactures have told us they are cutting back.

On the bright side, most of our vendors were at break even by early Sat morning so the vendors made a profit and were happy, and they all said this year was better than the past few.

All in all it was a great show. It was great to see all my FSM friends there.

Lastly, as for the west coast shindig…I feel for you and hope it will be soon

Rounds Complete!!

Hi Stick,[:D] I agree with Mike, it was a really good show, I had missed the last three years and I re connected with friends here at FSM, friends form Fairfield CT. and guys I have met at other shows and met new people.

I still feel pumped about the show, My wife had a great time and after the show I stayed an extra night and we got ‘crunked’ [6] [whstl][D]as they say nowadays …LOL… I know I posted this picture on the first page of the thread, but, dang…don’t harsh the buzz … LOL[t$t]

tread[H]

Well Tread, this is a ‘bragging rights’ thread and you certainly have every right to brag! It sounds and looks like it was a fantasticly good time! And in the end, that is what we are here for, to have fun in our own twisted way

I feel like the FSM forum is on life support in a vegetative state…

I wonder??, I have noticed that we now have many more builders of a very high standard than we did a few years ago, so Accolades get fewer and are harder to earn.

This can only be a good thing, as modellers are improving due perhaps from the advice/tips and encouragement found on this forum.

For some the standard may be a bit intimidating ( it is for me ) but I struggle on and always look forward to the comments my builds receive, good or bad.

Hope I am making some sense here!!

However many [Y][Y][Y] to you. Always a pleasure to see your builds…cheers…Kenny

redleg12: Thanks for checking in…did the M4HST get the silver? ( I still need to surf over and check out the finished product on your post) What was your other entry?

stikpusher: off topic [sml…]but…how did you add all those badges to your tag line? I don’t have nearly that many but I’d like to add a few more of my favorites. Would you mind shooting me a private message and let me know where to go/ how to do that?

SMJ, on another thread a month or so ago I mentioned how I had stopped using my GB badges becuase I could only post a couple and I was too computer illiterate to do a proper slide show (I tried). Another forum member, Old Ordie, graciuosly offered to build this fruit salad for me and did so when I linked him to my photobucket album that had all of my GB badges. I have to publicly give credit where credit is due to a very helpful member here. Contact him and I am sure that he will gladly help you out.

stikpusher: Thanks for the info. FRUIT SALAD…LOL, I love that term! What forum does Old Ordie reside in?

I see him a lot in GBs and Aircraft Yeah the banner he made reminds me of all the service ribbons on a Class A uniform which was nicknamed “Fruit Salad”…

Yup, it’s the automotive only version of FSM. I was a member there since 2003 before the U.S. government banned alot of my favorite products and I swapped from autos to armor.
