I have a 1/350 scale Klingon D-7 that has changed hands many times and predates the Atomic City kit by several years. I was told that it is probably a copy of the filming model that was kept by Gene Roddenberry. It is a huge bubble filled hunk of resin and has many issues with its original casting. My question is should I build it, trash it, or sell it. And if I build it, are there any potential issues with entering it in model contests, or other legal considerations?

Doubtful there are any repercussions regarding building and entering it in a contest. I’d ask at the Starship Modeler forum. If anyone would know about that kit, someone there would.
I also can’t see any problems with showing the model and probably not with selling it- Paramount did start cracking down on people making unlicensed merchandise but I don’t think they bother with anyone just owning it or selling one copy.
Hard to tell what it’s worth, piles of this stuff came out before Paramount went after makers and there is still small operations going on. I’d hang on to it till you can find out more about what it’s worth.
