These are the models that I have completed recently. Built strictly OOB and not really in the same league as the high quality, historically accurate and top notch builds that we often see here but I did enjoy building them.
Dwight, very nice indeed. I used to go to the IPMS Phillipine site and marvel at the gentlemen that has what looks like over a 1,000 kits. His whole house is full. Anyay you all put together some very nice models.
Ed, I think you are talking about the local IPMS president who lives in a model warehouse.[:D] By the way I am not an IPMS member but I often visit their website and forum.
Steve, actually it is my favorite among the 3, too.
Great stuff Dwight. All three look very nice. May I point out some small corrections for you?
On the M4A1: a) the towing lugs on the front hull should be vertical and not leaning outwards, b) DML made a bad mistake with the spare track racks on the rear hull. They should not be hollow. Look here:
On the M4A2, the towing pintle is upside down. Finally, on both Shermans, make sure that the tail lights are lined up horizontally and not leaning according to the angle of the engine deck. HTH
Dwight, don’t kid yourself–your work is easily up to standards here! I think these are all impressive builds, with my “loyalty” going to the (drum roll…) Hetzer of course! [(-D]
I like the realistically gritty, drab appearance of the Shermans That’s really the way they always strike me in 1:1 scale! You can always add a little simle stowage to them later to “spiff them up” if you become convinced that they need it.
I like the paint on the Hetz-did you “Silly Putty” it?
Lastly–as one who formerly suffered in the dial-up world, In the future I would recommend two or even three posts–like, one of Shermans and the other of the Hetzer?; anything to get less loading time for our similarly-afflicted brethren here! Sometimes I’d have been forced to pass a post this big right by, for lack of time or patience! [:D]
Dwight, very happy to see your work again. It’s always worth the wait. You have that nice dusty appearance on your Sherms that I always wanted to emilate. Nicely done. That Hetzer is rocking. Did you do the leaves with the little cutouts of tape applied? Regardless, it’s all up to your previous builds. Now when are they going into dios? [:D]
I really like your first model, the Dragon M4A1(76). The OD paint , weathering ,and rust stain detail are excellent. One of the finest features of this model is the stowage . The texture and color of the tarp , the wood and metal finish of the tools , the fuel/water cans , and the wood crates ( may look good to add some faded numbers and or letters to the end or side ) are all very well fabricated. These well placed details add to the look and story of this historically significant tank. Thanks for showing this inspirational build.
