nice work santa , but how many are you doing at once ?

5–when I was working on the Norsk Love, but I set it aside while I whaight for hull planking to come in the mail. When I planked the Fair American down to the keel, I put it on the shelf until I am ready to compleat the stern, as that must be dun before the sides can be finished. Almost dun planking the Jylland, then it will go on the shelf. And I will work on the Cutty Sark until I run out of wood, and finish planking it when my wood arives. Then due the Norske Love–That secound U.S.S. Constitution, and the secound H.M.S. Victory. after that I will think about the Bluenose and the America.

Hey Santa , could you answer a question for a foolish old man? When you build the hulls are you putting each plank on indavidualy? When I start building again I would like to try a ship like that. Any sugestions on what to start with?

Thank you very much for the post lurch. Your question covers a lot of ground. 1-Yes, the planks go on one at a time. 2-you start at the bottom edge of the lower gun deck, becauce this is the widest part of the ship. I will continue this later. 3-As for sugestions on what to start with—finde a large scale kit of a subject you like very much. Most kits have solid bulked ribs with keels that go all the way up to the bottom of the deck. If your subject has several gun decks–most kits will suply dummie gun barriols. many kits give you flat decks. O I just notisted someone has disabled spell-check on this sight----so until that gets fixed—this is what you get. To continue–I correct all of thies problems by: desining new ribs and keel-transfering them to 1/4" plywood-and cutting them out with a coping saw. This allows me to add full gun deckes that slope from side to side as well as from front to back. So that I can have full cannons with cairages. This teckneek also makes the hull light enuf for it to be balested and floted.

Thanks for the info. When I find somethng I like I will post it here so everyone could give me a hand building it. Again thank you.

lerch–when you are ready to begin your build, please review my thred : 1733-36gun-Dutch armed merchant ship–Hof van St Jankerke. As this will answer a lot of your questions.

Great thankyou.
