Some new pics I shot on 6/20/04.
These photos are supposed to depict the last days of the Luftwaffe in which many new and older aircraft were found abandoned on many captured Luftwaffe airfields as the war drew to a close.
I know these photos could use some jeeps and U.S. troops in them, I am working on them along with my new airplane hanger and Luftwaffe ground crew.

After the figures I am working on are finished I will try this ‘‘Last of the Luftwaffe’’ theme again in the future. These pics need more figures added to them to look right, also some more disabled aircraft in the background would really help a lot.

Taking these pics is nearly as much fun as building the models themselves.
I have one U.S. jeep (in 1/72 scale) under construction now, I need at least one more and some G.I.s to do my first ‘‘photo/diorama’’.
There are some old unbuilt kits that might be built as victims from an air attack, but I have more ideas than time right now.

The last pic from the ‘‘Last of the Luftwaffe’’ photo shoot from a week ago.
The jet in the center of the picture is a He 1078A built from the Special Hobby kit, the jets on the right are He 162s, two are built from Lindberg kits and the other is from Revell.
This will be the last picture from me for a while until my new hanger and figures are finished.

Matrixone I notice that in my airfix control tower,the scale is 1/72 or HO.That remind me that you can look in that scale HO,because the trains shops have a lot of buildings that perhaps you can use .

I have looked in the model RR section of my nearest hobby shop (two hour drive!) for any buildings that may be used in my pictures, not many were on the shelves and what was there was crap. This hobby shop is very involved in R.C. flying models so I did not really expect to find a good selection of HO scale buildings, but I am still searching for the right style of buildings that might work for my pictures.
The model companys should produce small scale buildings like hangers and control towers instead of more planes and tanks. I think they would sell quite well, I know I would buy some products like that!
Airfix makes that RAF control tower kit and fuel truck set, but they are very old kits now and it would be cool if they or another company would make a Luftwaffe version of those subjects.

I am actually working on something very similar myself - an experimental German aircraft base diorama…

Glad to hear you are working on a Luftwaffe base, I look forward to seeing pics of it.
My base is made out of plywood scrap I got at a local lumberyard for about $4.00, over the plywood is a layer of celluclay and then painted an earth brown color. The grass is model RR static grass glued on with Woodland Scenics thin glue. The backdrop is white poster board paper airbrushed with light blue sky and green/gray horizon at the bottom of it.

Cheers, I will look into that. I’ve a feeling that I’m going to have so many models from the prototypes GB, that I’m going to have to build a diorama for them all!! [:D]

That Bf 109Z sounds like an interesting plane to build, I will look for it on the prototype group build.

WWII vehicle set. Kubelwagen, Kettenkrad, Willys Jeep, diorama base, jerry cans, crates.
Do you know it? Any good? It was only £4.99 so no big loss if it isn’t!!

That is the same vehicle set where I got the Kettenkrad, oil drums, and Kubelwagon that I have used in a few of my pictures. I think this kit is very good value for the money, building that little Kettenkrad was tricky because the parts were so tiny but aside from that rest of the things in the kit was very easy to build.
Another vehicle I have seen in pictures of Luftwaffe bases is the Opel Blitz truck, Italeri makes a great 1/72 scale kit of this vehicle. Even if you don’t use it in your dio it is still recommended because it is fun to build and looks good. I have another one to build already and might get the 1/35th scale kit as well.

Does any one make vehicle sets in 1/48 scale. What scale is the HO buildings in, is it closer to 1/72 or 1/48?[D)]
