The Kommandant's New Driver (lots of pics)

Sunny and clear this morning, so I got around to taking pics of my latest dio.

Tons more pictures at http://photobucket.com/albums/v111/drucifer67/The%20New%20Driver/

The Kingtiger is Tamiya’s Ardennes Front version. Some of you may recognize the Kubel as the one I scratchbuilt a few weeks back (yes, I actually worked up the nerve to crash it, although not too badly!), and the figures are a mixed bag of Tamiya’s Assault Infantry w/ Winter Gear and Academy’s Battle of the Bulge figures. The driver is a hodgepodge of parts from many sources, including a Warriors head, and the Kommandant is from Tamiya’s Kommandeurwagen.

Feel free to praise or criticise as you see fit

Absolutely fantastic!

Wow, what a great dio. I find that winter scenes always leave something to be desired, but yours is full of the “right stuff” [:)]
Can you provide some detail on your construction techniques, namely the groundwork, how you painted it, the snow, and the river…

THAT is awesome! Great job!

Wow, replies came quick!

Yes, zokissima, I’d be glad to (I’m one of those people who just likes to talk)

I’m short of time right now but I’ll either post a long reply here later on or put together a little behind-the-scenes article for my web page (although I lacked the presence of mind to take pics from the beginning).

Thanks for the response!

Great job. Totally awesome. Look forward to some more.[:D]

Superb work, particularly on the figures and the tank and the kubelwagon ah that’ll be the whole thing then!!!Thanks for sharing.

Outstanding work. Looks like it was an exciting ride for the kommandant. Thanks for sharing with us.

that is really cool lookin’ friend!![tup] the water is very realistic!! nice job. later.

Thanks everyone!

Exciting indeed…I just wonder whether the driver is laughing on the inside…

zokissima, as promised, I put together a little run-through on how the scenery was done. It’s at:

http://drucifersmodels.50webs.com/newdriver.html

I did it in a bit of a hurry and in a house full of screaming children, so if there’s anything that’s unclear just let me know and I’ll try to shed some light.

[:)]

Excellent work. A great Diorama.

Regards, Rick

Incredible work…wow!

EXTREMELY WELL DONE
Everything about this dio is great well done

Ron

this by far would have to be the best dio that i have seen in a long time great work.
i cant wait to see how you did the ground work, good job

to be sure to be sure. Truly bodacious!

Excellent build and the facial expression on the driver really sets the mood. HEY would it be too much trouble to bring this one to Hobby Island on a Saturday???[:D] That would be really cool, there’s a bunch of guys there in the morning that would love to see this, myself included.

Thanks for the show.

That’s one powerful comment…I don’t know that I would necessarily agree, but thanks very, very much!

Well…that’s a three-hour drive for me…and if I did it on a Saturday I’d probably have to bring the whole clan along…but I’d LOVE to.

email me at drewclark@cox-internet.com and we’ll work out some particulars

Thanks again everyone for the feedback!

Thats some great work, thanks for the pics.

Thad

Absolutely awesome.
But you’ve got to create some wheel marks on the snow from Kubel…
