The King is Crowned - Long live the King

This is the DML King - The zimmerit was a real challenge ( converting the Verlinden Tamiya set to fit the DML kit)- paint is all Tamiya Acrylic - Fruil tracks and a rubio barrel - Long live the King! - next up is a Panther G in ambush scheme…

man that is one hunka hunka burnin love! (pun intended… Long live the king… a.k.a. Elvis haha)

I like tha cammo job on it… I have been thinking of attempting an armor kit lately… I saw the Tamiya King Tiger the other day on sale. maybe I need to try it out… that IS one sweet looking tank!

Makes a nice addition to go along that sweet Panther. I like the cammo and subtle weathering. How did you like the build of the kit? It’s on my Christmas list.

Hey Eric -
This build was a pleasure, there are a lot of jagdtiger parts left on the sprues, I look for them to release it soon. The thing that is really cool is the variable position roadarms on this kit. Dio guys will love that. If you go with an AM barrel be forwarned you will have to put counter balance inside the turret bustle. First the turret to hull tabs have too much clearance and this allows a gap - turret leans too far forward-(I used 4 oz. of sinkers). The gun trunnions are too flimsy to support the weight of the rubio barrel, i had to reinforce them with styrene strips. Fit up was excellent, just take your time with the side mudguard extensions. Xmas is a long wait brother, you need this bad boy NOW!

Steve

which tamiya colours did you use crockett? it looks fantastic!!! well done

Well done mate!

Might have to get a Tiger to sit beside my Panther G.

Hehe. Yah it is a long way away. Problem is there is so much I want already. Jagdtiger di you say? [:D] I might have to see if they come out with a new one.

Nice job on the king.

As for the jagdtiger they already have 3 of them out, well 2 that are in production right now. It is a great kit. The kit that I just got is kit # 6050 Jagdtiger henchel production version.

Crockett this is a sweet build I do like it espeacilly the way the colors are toned down.
Great job keep it up.Digger

That is a great looking build. Thanks for posting it.

Very nice job… One for the mantel, I presume???

Nice work on finishing this KT! Thanks for the tips on adding the AM stuff, it’s a good thing to keep in mind for future projects. [:D]

Thanks for the feedback gang - Dave - I used Tamiya Dark Yellow, Olive Green and a mixture of Hull Red and Red Brown. The Tamiya Red Brown is not “red enough” in my opinion. I added about 30% Hull Red and I think it represents the true red primer color used on these late war panzers. Washes were applied using "Black Out " products, black, brown and rust. Finish with Pactra "Weathering " acrylic with a #1 tip on the Paache H and the compressor dialed down to about 8lbs. , sealed using about three solid coats of dullcote.

I built a king a long time ago. Needless to say, you have done a far superior job. Thanks for sharing with us.

Looks good! Real good!
