About four years ago I managed to get the last ID Models vacuform kit of the 1:32 Su-27 from hannants I think it is kit # 3262 ( the box is under a stack of other 1:32’s I want to build)
This was my first vacuform purchase and needless to say not what I expected but hung onto it nonetheless.
Anyway I’ve noticed that I’m subject to modeling burnout when I do extensive scratch building on a kit, which would be the case with this kit and I think it is beyond my skill level to build.
Do you think there any value or desire for this kit that would warrant the effort of selling it ie putting it on eBay etc - I’m cleaning out the closet and was planning on chucking it out but thought I’d check first
Yep, those ID kits can be a real drive from the rough.
I’d say that every manufacturer has their adherants. Some folks love the scratchbuilding stuff and would give a vital organ for the opportunities that an ID kit would present in large scale. Now that ID is out of business, Their kits are going to be sought after by those that love them.
ID kits were right over my head too. Years ago, a friend of mine was helping one of his uncle’s clean out his attic and they found an ID 1/32 A-7 Corsair II kit still in its packaging. His uncle got it from somewhere and told him he could have it. A year or so later, having no idea even where to begin with it, my friend handed it over to me, still unstarted. I hung onto it for a couple of years, I love the SLUF and the chance to do one in 1/32 made me unwilling to part with the kit easily. However, after a couple of unsuccessful cockpit and landing gear scratchbuilding attempts, I traded it away to someone for something else.
Where it is now, is anyone’s guess, but i hope it got built and whoever built it did it some justice.
