The Gulf Wars GB (ODS and OIF) Any Interest???

Hey Guys & Gals,

I’ve decided to see about hosting a Groupbuild for Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom (the Gulf Wars) from August 2 to February 28. (To coincide with the dates of the first Gulf War) Entries could be from any country that took part in either war. I just wanted to see if anybody would be interested in partaking in a GB dedicated to these wars. I’ve posted another “Interest Probe” in Armor but I would like to see if there is any interest in Aircraft entries?

Um, seems only the armor component made noise… I will try to build an A-10 for the Mud Movers GB, I could try and cross-post it here if no aircraft join in…

Remember JMart, no crossovers for the Mud Movers GB. [:-^]

Great idea! Sign me up! Not sure what I’ll build yet, but I’ve got lots of the a/c used during both!

Interested? You bet! Is it practical? Probably not, with what I’ve already signed up for. The fuse is just too short. If you could stretch out the end date I might sneak in later.

Just scanned my inventory and my first choice likely would be a Hasegawa A-6E (1/72). I’ve got pics of one from VA-155 that was a real old airframe. (At some point I’d like a set of that one in all its earlier liveries that I can find. Anybody else ever do that?)

Later, maybe. I’ll be watching.

Dick

I would participate. Can i use an A-10 that’s already been built? If not, I’m fine with building another.

oops, sorry! I actually have 2 of the Revell kits, not on purpose, one was a gift. I could try building both, one in the Euro camo scheme for the Mud movers, one in desert colors for OIF.

Thanks for the heads up though!

That’d work! [tup]

Here’s a badge idea:

What do you guys think?

and Jacob, sorry but for the groupbuild you must build a new kit during the date parameters that have been set. (August 2, 2008- Feb.28, 2009)

EDIT Another Idea:

Chris, you make the greatest and coolest badges! only suggestion would be to use initials (ODS/OIF) instead of spelling them out, hard to read.

I am going to really think and research the A-10, maybe I can do a double build…

[:I]Thanks James.

I’ve decided to (as per Dupes’ suggestion) just keep the badges simple and use just one for A/C, and one for Armor.

And yes, I’ll update the badges so it just says “ODS/OIF”. Your right, more legible that way.

You should put this on the Group Build forum.

I’m interested in getting in on this one with a Revell 1/48 F-15E. I was inspired to add that kit to my stash when I saw a photo in my alumni magazine taken of a fellow graduate who is currently serving in the Middle East and is an F-15E pilot. The photo was taken probably from a refueling bird of this guy’s Eagle with a big Texas A&M flag sprawled out over the “dash” in front of the targeting display. So I will attempt to build that guy’s F-15E complete with the A&M flag but rather than in flight, on the ground.

Oh, and I rather like the badge with the flight of F-15s and the burning oil wells.

Sounds good Aggieman, there is a thread over in the GB forums now, anybody else wishing to join, please head over there and please list your kit, manufacturer and scale info.
