The Frost is on the Pun'kin

Hi everyone,
Some advice is what I need. With the downward shift in temps here in Minnesota, I need to know how other builders heat their workspace. My bench is in the garage, which occupies the basement part of our townhome. While connected to the house, the garage itself is unheated. Other than spend many $$$$$ to access the heating ducts from the garage, does anyone have a less costly suggestion. I mean we are possibly talking sub-freezing if the wind is blowing just right. Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Is electric base board out of the question???

I live in the north east(Pa.), and i heatmy whole house with electric heat… it is by far safer with glue and solvent fumes…

other them a kerosene heater, there isn’t much more then that, that i,maware of…

I agree with Ron’s suggestion of a baseboard heater. Is there a way that you can partition off your modelling corner so that you don’t need to heat the entire garage?
Just a thought, even something like canvas would reduce the heating area, kept well away from the heat source of course.

Here I have a great Down East Idea… Put your cloths, or clothes dryer in the garage, Exhaust the thing indoors thru a lint screen. Now you can Please your Better half and do your " Honey Doos" while modelin… Um I may try that idea also. It gets cold in my doghouse here in Connecticut. My dog don’t like solvents so I guess I’m back in the Basement. Seriously… a portable Elect. space heater would work fine…

I use a kerosene heater in my basement and it keeps things nice and toasty. I do have to shut it off when I’m airbrushing, but as far as glue fumes, the room is drafty enough so that it’s not a problem.

You could also try a radiant heater. This heats objects, not the air, and so is easier on the power bills. I have seen both gas and electric types up here.

PS:
3 inches of snow forecast for tomorrow!

Thanks one and all for the ideas! When I got out of work last night I saw snowflakes, so there is some sense of urgency here. That and my fingers are frozen to my Hasegawa Raiden, which is a change from gluing them together!!!

Move to Hawaii?[:)][:)]
