Things do seem rather irrational in the world of meteorolgy at the moment. My wife and I just made a trip to Dallas, to see the grandkids. We went by way of Memphis, which was covered with snow and ice. The temperatures in Dallas were in the mid-70s. On the way back we flew over New Orleans and could make out the remnants of the snow there. When we got back home to eastern North Carolina we learned that some areas around here had gotten as much as a foot while we were gone.

The trip was memorable for another reason: we achieved the remarkable feat of getting our luggage lost twice. Once in each direction, by two different airlines. I had to confront the challenge of buying a change of underwear, toothbrush, razor, etc. in Dallas at 1:00 a.m. on December 26. Great way to celebrate Christmas. Then later that day I turned on the TV, heard about what was happening in Asia, and ceased to complain about the weather or anything else. What a week for the human race.

Today I heard in the news that it has snowed in the United Emirates of Arabia…no kidding.

Well, it’s New Years Day here in New Jersey, and it’s SUPPOSED to be in the mid 20s to low 30s…instead, it hit 70 degrees, so today I painted my house!!! One of my New Year’s Resolutions I actually accomplished!!!

Yeeeahhhaaa, now back to models!

Still, it’s better than what we could witness in “The Day after Tomorrow”…
