The Eagle is coming along

My Revell 1/48 F-15E Strike Eagle is starting to take shape, but it won’t fly well without the horizontal stabilizers. [:D][;)]

Mike

Thanks Joe. I can’t get the images to zoom bigger on the forum though. [%-)]
I’ve had this trouble before when posting from my homepage. [banghead]

Mike

Coming along very nicely. Keep us posted.

Always nice to see another scale aircraft born into the free world [^]

Good luck with your project !!!

Mike very nice it’s really starting to look good… can’t wait to see more.

Very nice can’t wait to see the final product. What Sqn will it hail from?

Dave,

I am having a hard time deciding. [(-D]
I was originally going to make it a 391st ‘MO’ tailcode but I had kind of planned on it being a OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) bird and from what I hear the 391st didn’t take part in that campaign much. I may make it a 335th ‘SJ’ tailcode as they seemed to have had a big part in the OIF campaign along with having a great record throughout history with their kill record. [:D]
I just ordered two of the ‘Anaconda Eagles’ decal sheets from Twobob’s as they are on sale for only $2.85! [:0] [8D]
I can use those if I want and just leave the Anaconda nose art off and make it a OIF bird. Decisions, decisions. [;)]

Looking sweet Mike!! I sure wish I could zoom the pic, so I can get a good look at the cockpit though.

Heath,

Here’s about the best shot I could get of the cockpit with this camera indoors.

Mike

WOW!!! Lookin Awesome my friend!!! That one blew-up nicely!! 2 questions…how did you make the MFD’s look so real?? What color are the screens, and how did you paint the buttons?? It doesn’t look like a normal dry brush…toothpick??

Thanks Heath. [:D]

I painted OD color over the screens of the CRT’s I believe and then when they are dry I put a coat of Gunze clear green over them. The color underneath shows through the green and gives it a realistic look. For the switches around the CRT’s I used a General’s No 55B Charcoal White pencil and lightly highlighted the knobs and switches.
It seems to work fairly well although I don’t know if it looks as good as a good dry brushing would. I am still a beginner when it comes to these things and would appreciate any help from you veterans out there. [;)]

MFD= Multi Funcion Display LOL Sorry, I forget that sometimes I have my own general lingo I use at work. I’m definately going to have to give that a shot sometime!! I just got in the Trumpeter Mil Hind E. I’ll have to see if it has it’s own CRT’s to try that technique on.

Mike, nice job. Looks like it’s going well. Keep us posted on the rest of the build.
