The Doog and you...

I just snagged the latest FSM and scanned Karls article. Good work man, and good write up! You and the macabre go together like hand and glove. I like it.

Ditto. It was a very good article!

Regards,

Hey thanks, dahut and Lufbery! [:D]

You guys have been away for a few days, and you must’ve missed the first post that went around giving me props, but I appreciate the sentiment all the same! [swg]

I missed it too, but I’d like to chime in…props, doog. Nicely done.

It is way cool! My kids really got a kick out of the skeletal panzer troopers [8D]

Havent seen the artical yet but the dio is an outstanding other tangent. The tank the ghosts the kids the dogs. Were the last mentioned a “signiture” i wonder? I guess i know what to tell my alte what I want for christmas.

Regards Mac

Yeah, Im slow. Besides. Ive been hanging out on the aircraft forum… ** gasp!! **

Karl

I had read the article and thought it was great but I’m on a trip, had to spend 5 hours in a plane so I read it a few more times.

Its even better the second time around, you catch things you missed especially while listening to Led Zepplin on the Ipod. it sets a great mood!![swg]

Thanks again

Rounds Complete!!

YEAH! ZEP!! Didja know they had a reunion concert a couple of days ago?!?!

Well, I did not miss the original posting!! However, I wanted to read the article first before putting in my [2c]. And thanks to dahut posting this I now have a chance.

TOTALLY INSPIRATIONAL Excellent build. I am not that kind of a modeler to take on the kind of challenge presented in depicting a blown apart armored vehicle. It’s hard enough to build one OOB for me and have it come out looking right, let alone having to be faced with the hard task of building it all exposed and damaged from an internal explosion and have it come out looking like it had been through an internal explosion when finished. Like the concept, the dio, figures, the setting, the story it tells, all of it. . . ORIGINAL.

My hat is off to you Karl [bow] I have seen some of your earlier work here and this piece has just put you on a whole new level.

Geez guys, I feel like a damned celebrity or something! [:I] [(-D]

Really, I’m so happy to hear that you all enjoyed the article–it was actually condensed and re-written quite a bit by the editors, but that’s ok–it was really extensive and in-depth how I wrote it, and they had to “make it fit”.

BSF, I felt the same way about attempting something so dauntingly complex and detailed, but I have to say that, on this side of it, I realize now what a valuable and enjoyable learning project it was for me. It also realy bosted my confidence as a modeler, and I’d recommend it to anyone to try to do something like this; after all, it is "Art’ in the end, and there’s a lot of leeway in what you can do with a destroyed vehicle.

Thanks again guys! [:D]

You are familiar with the Frederick Forsythe novel “The Sheperd”?

NOPE!

But I’m curious now…why?

So Doog, where do we send the magazine to so you can sign the cover like a rock star!

Congrats on the great article!

No,

A signed magazine along with his autographed 8X10 promo of his avatar![;)]

Seriously though- Doog, add me to the list of those who enjoyed and admired your published work! Question though- unless I missed it- what’s the details behind the ‘ghost’ figures? Did you scuplt/craft them or does someone actually offer them already?

Again, Kudos![bow]

Ha ha…If anyone would actually seriously want that, they can PM me! [:I][:-^][(-D]

The ghosts started out as DML’s “Panzer Crew–Survivors” I drillled out their eyes with a micro drill, and then sculpted out the cheeks into “cheek bones”, and then scribed “teeth” into the lips, and scraped away plastic around the face until they looked sufficiently gaunt. It was really just like, “close your eyes and jump”–totally an experiment. If it came out great, they would be used; if I ruined them, well, I don’t remember what I was gonna do then…[(-D]

I did the same for their fingers–scribing the “bones” in with an exacto.
