I recently was in my lhs and came upon Long Ent. “The Detailer” Ready to use washes. Has anybody out there used them?
Sorry, but I never have. I have heard of them, and have also wondered how folks like them.
Aren’t they kinda pricey?

If you’re talking about these:
I use to use them exclusively…but never again. In time they begin to dryout and flake…peeling away from the surfaces they were applied. I have several models which I applied it as a means to tint the canopies…green ‘sun shield’. I also used the black to ‘wash’ grills and radiators and it too has flaked and peeled away. Even the surfaces that had ‘sealers’ applied afterwards had the same effect.
My suggestion is to use the Tamiya transparent colors instead. I haven’t had an issue with those.

i had played with the black when it first came out but had such horrid botchy results that i went back to typical oil washes.

It looked nice going on, but they didn’t stand the test of time. Here is a couple shots of showing my disappointment with the product.
You have to use great care when sealing this stuff too, even after it is dry it will resuspend and run when a clear is applied.
Never a problem here. Some of these models are more than 7-8 years old and there is no degradation of the Detailer wash. I apply them over a gloss coat then seal with either GS clear or MM flat, nothing else and never a problem. Over the years he came out with more colro choices but my main use was/is black. Apply over the panel lines you want to work on, let dry then come back with a damp Q-tip and gently remove the excess, very easy. If you take off too much, just reapply. No staining issues, and I have left the wash on on occasion for a week with no trouble removing it. Proof that mileage can vary? Use with confidence!
