The Complete Future

where do you buy it? I tried kroger (a grocery chain for those not familiar) with no luck.

we also have publix but not much else theyve run everyone out :p. or would ace hardware, home depot or lowes be better chances?

never mind; walmart has everything.

Read the article - there is a complete list of major vendors by country listed there. I find it in Kroger and Wal Mart.

:slamsheadonwall:

I read the whole article (or so I thought) not sure how I missed that. my kroger didnt carry it though :frowning:

but I got it now; cant wait to try it out.

Meijer carries it too, if there’s one in your area; that’s where I got mine.

thanks so much for the tips. you and your website (and this forum) have been such a tremendous help to me. i hadn’t models in almost 15 years and i haven’t been happy with the first few renewed attempts (a spitfire and P-51, where else would i start).

i do have a question though, i’ve got a Ju52/3m and the corrugated metal of the plane is replicated rather well so i thought future would help a lot with the decals but will i lose details and lines or are those things still apparent?

thanks again!

No problem, you should not lose much of any detail using Future prior to decals. I have a Ju-52 to work on also and suggest a healthy dose of Micro-Sol setting solution or Mr. Marker Soft when you put those decals on. They should conform fairly well then.

Let me start by saying many thanks to you Swanny for your site and posts here. Cheers to everyone else as well for their time and input. I’m a newbie/returner (who also loves to sit and read/research stuff like this) so it’s been extremely useful and a pleasure. I’ve been reading on weathering techniques, and wanted to try weathering the interior of my aircraft (I’ll try the exterior too when I get there!). Since I’m only working in hand-painted enamels now (and don’t currently have any acrylic paste/paint to make a sludge wash with), I figured what the heck, maybe I’ll mix some brown/black pastel chalk in some future and try it as an application to the interior to seal and weather in one step. Brushed it on with a wide brush, then came back with a small brush and soaked up the puddles (that I didn’t want) and obliterated little bubble patches if there were any. To my beginnner’s eye, it looks good so far. Easy, one step, and looks reasonably good in the interior - a little glossy, though, so maybe I’ll add a little flat base in my next attempt. Plus, I imagine the future will seal the pastel in so that it will stay in place, not that the interior is handled nearly as much as the exterior anyway. I will probably try a coat of future with a separate acrylic sludge wash for the exterior panel lines, etc., which appears to give far more control than this somewhat rudimentary technique. Not sure if this modification has been described before, but if not, it’s just another notch in the belt of the wonder-polisher extraordinaire! I love this stuff [8D]

i second that jcfay. Swanny your guide for the use and other vital details for future is superb. I wonder how many keen modellers have used ur guide?? Youd be silly not to try it;)

Ive just used it for the first time (swannys guide) (BTW my nick used to be sasarchiver), and what a result. i had second thoughts about using it, but i went for it. I will be now applying future/klear to all my models for that result, its amazing.

So thanks to you and everyone else who helped me at the start, youve made an expert out of me lol  ill post a pic of the model when i can (Ah64A Apache Longbow)

Thanks for the amazing guide swanny,

i applied future and then put on decal with micro sol setting solution. the micro sol dissolved the future. Also, i cant seem to get the future to flow together. By the time it flows togather, I have put on to much and it puddles or runs. I’ve done this 3 or 4 times and can’t seem to get it right. Any suggestions? Thanks

Sorry for the delay, did not see your post until today. Best way to contact me for immediate help is at webmaster@swannysmodels.com

Setting solution can attack future but this is easily handled by waiting for the solution to dry then recoat with Future. If you are having an issue with Future covering properly and from the sounds of your post what you are actually experienceing is the early onset of “Orange Peel” you just add 25% isopropyl alcohol to the Future and you should be just fine.
