For the first time ever…I hit the century mark on kits that are either a) in progress or b) in the stash as a combined total. It’s all DML/GM’s fault…I placed an order on Tues. for the Panther G, the T-34/76 Mod. 1941, and the Marder II…and the arrived yesterday! [:D] Of course, I’ll drop back below that number likely this weekend as I’ve got 2 on the bench very close to completion status, but still…100…that’s a big number. All of them big beautiful armor too. [;)]
It only scares you the first time. I passed it at least a year ago. I buy on sale and build when I get a chance. I’m a college student. I’m lucky to get in 2 meals a day and I have to pack one of them. I haven’t finished anything in a decade.
Don’t worry once you graduate and get a job you’ll find more money and even less time the collection will grow kits finished will drop. Its much easier to buy then build.
TC
Welcome TC. Well part of the problem is the fact that my room is a dumping ground during the summer. I live with my sister during the schoolyear and go home in the summer, and as I get stuff for the next year or when my sister wants something to go in the attic (door’s in my room) it gets put in there. So I’m sorting through stuff to get to my desk again. The bed was first priority, the chest of drawers second, bookshelf third, attic door fourth, and desk fifth. I can almost get to the bookshelf and attic without tripping, but I’m gonna need help to get stuff moved from the room to the attic. (Sis is big on holidays so stuff is constantly being shifted in and out of storage. Nothing like a 12’ illuminated, inflatible Eeyore with antlers to scream Christmas.) Sis is no help and Mom only is available 6 hrs a week when she visits. I’ve got nearly ten ft of work surface when I get to it.
I have only 32 kits and it seems like a mountain to me. However, you are more prolific in finishing what you start, so you’ll probably get your stash done well before me.
The Marder II was my most anticipated purchase this year and she is a beaut. I’m still holding off on a Dragon 42-43 version of the T-34. Hopefully soon. Forgot about the KV-1 and so on and so on…
i usually buy what i like at the time and is in a good price range also if on sale. right now it’s only 20 kits in stash and 4 in progress.
