The way my poll is going the CATALINA is tied with theTIGER 1for first place. If the Cat should win and when I come back to build it,what should I paint it?The
British Cat or the standard Navy Cat.Digger[:)][C):-)][:)]
Hmmm… You could do the standard Blue gray over light gray, or even a tricolor Gloss sea blue over Blue Grey over white paint scheme if you want to do the US navy. Alternatively, you can dress her up as a post-war US Coastguard rescue plane. I have the Squadron walk around if you need any help with visualizing the patterns. [:)]
Black Cat!
Do the cat as an Air Force O-10. They look real purrty with the yellow and orange stripes.
early war navy.

Blue-gray over light gray gets my vote!
just what kind of cat is this? -5? -5A?
I’m always in favor of a USCG Catalina!
Make it an RAAF back "Fighting Cat"which flew out of RAAF Rathmines in NSW Australia. There is a museum there and available photos. The Cats used blue and white roundells and often painted out the white part.
I am not sure of the A serials but that wont be too hard for me to find.

I’m with John P…BLACK CAT!!![:P]
Being from Holland I just have to suggest making a Cat used by the Dutch in the Pacific in WWII. You could go for an early (1941)version with dark blue grey top and milk white bottom colors. This one used big orange triangles for antional insignia. Or you could go for an all-silver painted Cat which used the newer 4-color Dutch roundels. There were even a few ‘Black Cats’ in Dutch markings. Take your pick[:D]. I have some pics in a book on Dutch aircraft markings that I may be able to scan for you if you like, and I am pretty sure DutchDecals make the appropriate decals. Just wanted to let you know there’s options out there[swg]
The Black Cat. They were based here during WWII
While so far the Cat is in the lead on my poll.Is there any more ideals that come to mind in the paint shemes?Digger[:)][C):-)][:)]
I know this is a old post but I could still uae your help and ideals on this subject.I have the squadron walk around book and saw an interesting camo scheme for the Cat .This was used by the Aussies and Britts, but I was wondering if there was more types of camo used on this big beautiful bird and did the navy ever used the gull grey and white scheme on it.Digger
first time i’ve noticed this thread, i would go for a comversion, the PBY used by jaques ceausteu (sp?) in yellow/black and white is/was a nice looking plane. if you want i can post a pic of the box of the revell kit of this

The way things are going camo is looking better all the time.Digger
Dude, the Cat, definately.
Either the RAAF Black Cat, or there’s a really nice PD Decals sheet that has a lovely Atlantic tri-color scheme from VP-63, Fleet Air Wing 15 (early 1944).
It has Dark Gull Grey upper surfaces over Light Gull Grey, with White undersides.
Quite a striking scheme.
Build the Cat. You may want to consider the USAAF version, used for Search and Rescue in England.
