The Army takes over!

Just a interesting item for helo folks. Here at Pax River, we had a change of command at the US Naval Test Pilot School and for the first time in it’s 60 year history, there is an Army officer in command, a Lt. Col. Kihara (a TPS graduate). For those who don’t know, Army test pilots train at the Naval Test Pilot School. They have a pretty good variety of helos, including Seahawks, a couple UH-60A’s, an OH-58C and a TH-6B. I like the color scheme on the fixed wing aircraft, which is white with red trim. Unfortunately their Seahwaks are the usual gray, and the Blackhawks are the usual green, with a very small USNTPS logo. Only the TH-6B is painted in the fixed wing colors.

Of course the best thing about TPS is that at the end of the training they bring in all sorts of aircraft for the graduates to fly and write evaluations for. Lots of old warbirds and vintage helos. So we have a little air show a couple times a year.

About Time! You Navy boys have had enough time srewing things up!

Just kidding. Good on him, hope he does a fine job. I believe I heard he would be instituting the new PT program starting next week, Monday morning 0600.

You should be happy it’s not a Marine C.O. PT would go at 0500, and again at 1500.

I’m only joking…the second PT session is at 1600.

In all seriousness, that sounds like an incredible place to see all sorts of aircraft.

Good for him(and the Army)
