The 1/72 Space Shuttle Kits: Which Is Which?

I note the ( presumably ) Monogram 1/72 shuttle kit, with boosters, is being re-released this year.

From my research on the FSM posts, I know Revell also produced a 1/72 shuttle and I recall some of the posted descriptions for differences between the two kits.

However, I’ve never seen the Revell kit.

Can anyone tell me if the previous Revell releases ( no boosters ) shuttle kit was the old Revell kit or the Monogram kit minus the booster tank?

It’s the Revell kit with the removable cockpit ‘roof’. This kit also has the tiles indicated, although crudely and inaccurately. And the Payload Bay doors’ hinge is more a toy than a scale model.

The Monogram shuttle is a little more accurate, but just a little.

And the two kits, Revell and Monogram, are totally different animals.

Any idea if the Revell kit was the shuttle only issue ?

The Revell 1/72 Space shuttle is just the shuttle, and some inaccurate payload bay items … only the Monogram has the boosters.
