I started this on Wednesday night, and I am finally getting moving on the project…with a six month old, it is hard to get motivated with the models…but the wife and kid are asleep, so I am using this time to my advantage!
This is the first update:
Cockpit and Radio room painted and assembled:

with a light wash to bring out details, the interior will be done…
Justin
Very nice work on the interior Justin. Keep us posted on progress.
Regards, Rick
Can’t have too many B-17s… Unless you’re a Messerschmitt or Focke-Wulf driver, that is… Over all, excellent work and must say that there woodwork on the nav and radio tables is above reproach… In fact, they may be too nice for Gub’ment work, lol…
Just FYI, and it probably won’t matter, but the fire extinguishers weren’t red back in the Heydays of Fort… They were unpainted brass…
Is this one the Monogram Fort, the Pro Modeler B-17G, or the Visible B-17G from Revel? At any rate, you’re off to an outstanding start, keep it coming…
Hans…it is the Revell B-17G…and about the Fire extinguishers, the instructions labeled them to be painted red. I probably shoulda checkedmy refeerencebook, but mostof the detail, as you know isnt really visible after closing up the fuselage.
Thanks for the kind words about the woodgrain…I dabble in automotive custom paint, and woodgrain is one of the easiest techniques to master…itsabit more dificult in this small scale, but I feel I pulled it off!
More updates to come as I finish more…
Justin
Excellent progress Justin! I agree, your woodgrain is especially nice. [tup]
Oh I knew that… I was just lettin’ ya know for future ref… The first three of those Forts I built (and about every fire bottle in every other plane I built since 1969) had red fire bottles too…[:D]
looking good.
Like the others said, outstanding job on the wood effect.
I have one I barely started on that’s been sitting in the closet for the last 10 years.
I was in the process of putting real wood in place of the tables and flooring.
Eric…
Good start on her, pretty quick I might add. Can never have too many B-17’s around here. Looking forward to more updates.
I hear ya with the wife+kid, that phase will pass before ya know it and you’ll have a little monster saying “Hi daddy” 1000 times a day. Kids are great.
Is it and F or a G? Except for the chin guns is there any other difference between the two?
