While surfing through the Greatmodels.com database of 1/48th aircraft, I came across what I think may be one of the largest 1/48th kit in existence. It’s the Me.323 E-1 Gigant, made by HML Handmade Limited Kits, and it goes for $587 and change. Have to see it next to the B-1B. I just watched a History Channel special on the Luftwaffe yesterday, and this German transport was highlighted on the special. I was amazed by video of it actually flying. Check it out!
I’d love to have one in my collection, if only it were injection mold and not so pricey. Can’t see spending a house payment on one kit. I seem to remember seeing a ME323 kit in 1/72 can’t remember by who though. Even in 1/72 that would be a big kit. Revellogram does big planes , How 'bout it Guys? Bob
I believe it was Italeri that produced the 1/72 Me 323. There are figures & armor kits available to make a stunning dio with that kit. I’m surprised I have never seen a pic of the 1/72 kit built-up.
I wonder if the resin kit’s wings are solid or multi-piece?
A one piece resin wing 45in long? HEAVY!!! I haven’t seen any built pics of any ME323’s. Must not be very good kits. Bob
That would be impressive! If they halved the price they would sell a bunch of em, I bet.
Yes, Italeri. I have both the Italeri Gigant and their He-111Z towplane. I was toying with the idea of a diorama, but didn’t have a 5-foot-square table handy! ![]()
also Italeri produced the un-engined ME-322 Gigant I have the catalog for way back when that has both kit avaible now if some one would get the cahonas to make them in injection molded and about 1/4 the cost them I’ll be as happy as a pig in mud
That’s one big bloody model.
The only place I could imagine that would be as a small display in an aviation museum.
More than a 3’ wingspan…
Cheers
