I’ve only been on this list for a few weeks, and some of the elementary questions that are asked are mine exactly. I’ve been doing the model thing for a while (a few years), and enjoy reading FSM. But when I looked at Swanny’s model website, it was just right on. It addressed the basic questions, and offered some techniques that I’d not heard of or read about before. If you are a beginner to intermediate modeler and are dazzled by the amazing photos you see, check out Swanny’s site at http://swannysmodels.com for hints how to make it happen.
The other thing is that I am learning a lot about web resources for modelers, including some very cool cockpit photo and ejection seat photo sites. I appreciate the contributions you folks make to those of us just beginning.
this site and many others make it easier to get a lot better at this hobby. Swanny is in a class all his own. Look at that BV he finished. Masterpiece.
Welcome to the site jayzee!!!
I agree. I still haven’t gone to his website, but you don’t always have to with as often as he is here helping out it seems. Between him, Blackwolf, and the rest of you guys, I have gotten some great tips, and I am more interested in my own modeling than ever.Thanks.Allen
[#ditto] to everything. Not only is there greats tips, there’s great models and an endless source of information and inspiration. In fact he was a direct cause of me shelling out $20 for electric motors to motorize my Ju 290Z! (Don’t ask why it cost $20. It’s a loooooooong story.)
And besides, now you always know what to shoot for.
I actually got the motors in, and they do work, so all isn’t lost yet! [:D]
mpartric- I doubt you’ll find much. It was an EXTREMELY obscure design. I only found two pictures of it, one an artist rendering and a three-view scematic. But, it was compartivly simple, so I said what the heck!
