testors mini blue compressor

I just bought a testors mini blue air compressor for my Iwata airbrush. The guy at the store said they dont have the most power in the world but it fit in my budget better than the other choices they had.

Does anyone have any experience with this, good or bad? I use almost exclusively enamals and acrylics and shoot future through my airbrush as well. Are those thin enouph to make things work OK?

Thanks.

I have had my Testor’s mini for about a year and a half; must say I’ve been pleased with its performance, significantly so when I added a combo moisture trap/regulator. I live in a townhome developement so quiet was a key part of the decision to buy this compressor. It does have enough umph, although I usually airbrush at 10-15 psi, whether I am using enamels or acrylics. Can’t say much about thinning, as I generally thin different brands, and even different colors within a brand differently…for example I may thin ModelMaster acryl black more than MM Acryl yellow…I am sure it depends on a whole set of chemical and color theories of which I know nothing, I just know “what works”. Have fun and enjoy!

I have that little wonder compressor too and have used it once so far, as I just bought and just returned to modelling. My practice model is hasegawas 1:48 1009g-10. I find that little compressor is a joy for a fill compressor til you can actually get a real one with a tank and all the good stuff. Enjoy little blue it will take of you.

I am thinking of purchasing the Testors Aztek complete airbrush set including the mini blue compressor. I have just returned to modeling after 10 years. I have never airbrushed before and this will be my first airbrush set. My question is, is this a good starter set? Is it good for beginners like me to learn on? Can I upgrade the set as I get better (like get a dual control nozzle, etc)? Thanks.

Thats what I bought! The Aztek is not worht it, but it will get you through til you can buy another better brush. The mini blue compressor is a joy.

I bought the compressor/Aztec package deal about a year ago and have been very pleased with both. I love how quiet it runs and even with the humidity here in Florida, I have no problems at all with condensation in the line that came with the compressor. I picked up my pressure gauge and relief valve at Lowes. All in all, a great little compressor.

thanks guys for your input. However, I didnt like how little air came out and how the pressure dropped so drastically, so I returned it and bought a different comprssor at a Target that has a pressure guage, regulator and storage tank.
