I’m a beginner and getting ready to work on my first model. Can I still use old-fashioned Testors flat paint (from the old days) on small parts without getting that “sticky” look? Are there new brush-on paints out on the market that are superior? Thanks…
Testors would work fine… their Models MAsters line is a good selection… a lot of good paints in it in a large variety of colors… my take is try the MM color, if you dont like it move to another… The only one I have heard issues with is the Tamiya acrylic line (for hand brushing) but I think if properly thinned even these work ok. The keyword is properly thinned for any paint type…
Get some thinner. I use lacquer thinner but any solvent thinner will work. Keep a little cup of it nearby (like a plastic soda top) to dip your brush in every few paint strokes. And keep a napkin nearby to dab off excess. You’ll see that it helps.
