My laptop keyboard, running windows 11, has been hesitating when I type. Like if I type a sentence, it might not “count” the first few keystrokes, like the shift key and the first couple of letters and then starts with perhaps the third key I type.
Without knowing how old your laptop is, it’s difficult to troubleshoot. Try updating drivers, checking your keyboard settings, cleaning the keyboard, and ensuring your system isn’t overloaded with background processes.
Some solutions:
Outdated drivers: Update your keyboard drivers through Device Manager.
Filter Keys enabled: Go to your system settings, navigate to Ease of Access > Keyboard and disable “Filter Keys”.
System resource issues: Close unnecessary background applications and check if your system is low on memory.
Dirty keyboard: Clean your keyboard with compressed air to remove debris between keys.
Hardware malfunction: If the issue persists even after trying software solutions, consider checking for physical damage to the keyboard or contacting the manufacturer for a potential repair.
In addition, you might try plugging another external keyboard into a USB port and trying that to see if it fixes your problem.
It’s a 2023 Asus ROG. It only started happening last night and today. I ran a scan, adjusted the filters and restarted it a couple of times.
While I was having the issue when I typed the test post 45 minutes ago, it’s been acting normally since I restarted it after the scan.
I’ve had no issues beyond my own typos in this response.
Another possibility is that a program was updating on your laptop, even the browser itself. This can cause slow downs. Not much you can do except wait for the update to finish.
I’m going to go with Gary’s reply on this one. Something was updating and it may have been the browser. I have it happen to me on occasion with my MacBook Pro whenever Firefox or Duck Duck Go is updating behind the scenes.
