Tauro 1/35 Sturmpanzerwagon A7V

Hi all, just wondering where I can pick up a reasonably priced Tauro 1/35 Sturmpanzerwagon A7V besides evilbay? They appear to be unavailable down here in Australia. Or, does someone have one they no longer want??..

Thanks, Chris

Even when I was stationed in Germany from 1987 through 1990, the Tauro kits were rare and hard to find. I know places like Squadron.com carries them in the states. Have you looked at Perth’s site to see if they have an Austrailian advertiser who carries it?

If you do get one (sorry I can’t help you on that front) here are a couple hints.

Don’t bother trying to get the suspension to work, the attachement points aren’t adequate to overcome the springs.

Second, don’t bother with their connector pins. I was running 25% breakage trying to use them when they weren’t stabbing me in the finger tips. Instead, get a pack of staples. Take a strip apart so you have individual staples. Cut off one end so the staple is in an “L” shape. Connect the links with these and cut off the excess.

I agree with Al that the tracks are a sure sorry part of the kit. I bought one and started building it while in Germany, but gave up due to the tracks. I got another one in the early days of eBay but have not started that one yet. I could not get a solid run of tracks going without them breaking.

I got mine directly ordered from Tauro. It came to me in Sweden about 10 days later.

Funny,

I’m working on one right now. I found it stashed under a bunch of stuff at a vendors table at a model show in Cleveland about 4 months ago. It costed $40 US. The interior is just about done. www.landships.com has a review stating the shortcomings of the kit, but the insight found on this forum is the best resourse.

Semper Fi,

Chris

My first one cost 39.95 DM back when the rate was 1.65 DM to the dollar (works out to $24 and change). My second one was $25. It is an impressive model kit, but a bear to build.

Does anyone know if the other two WW1 tanks pictured on the box side were ever produced? They show a Mark I Male and the Char Schneider C.A.1. I know the Fiat 3000 mod. 21 was made, but do not know if the other two were.

Rob,The Schneider has been available in 1/72 at least intermitantly on Squadron and I think I saw a note it was going to be released in 1/35 this year. I don’t recall the proposed maker of the Schneider.

Al, you misunderstood me. On the Tauro box side are those two tanks along with kit numbers and the 1/35 scale. I was wondering if Tauro ever released those two kits.

The only two Tauaro tanks I ever saw were the A7V and the Fiat. I think those were like th fabled Dragon/DML fast attack SEAL vehicles that showed up only onthe sides of some of thier boxes.

You are probably right, I’ve never even seen the second boxing of the Fiat that was also advertised. My kit has a sticker indicating that the A7V was made in 1980. I never realized the kit was 27 years old.
