Tauro 1/35 A7V Elfriede.

Following up on my Bison pics, I decided to put up this one. Its the Tauro 1/35 A7V.

This was my actual first plastic model in decades, a kit bought 10 years ago on a whim and never built. Frankly the kit is of very questionable quality, but the subject is so close to my heart that I could not resist it at all. The plates dont really fit together, many parts were miscast or broken. In it’s defense the actual surface detail on the plates is very nicely done, and the track and bogies are a crazy work of art (actual springs and pinned track segments.

Still I got it together and had enormous fun painting her up as Elfriede, and it was enough of a success to inspire me to ‘get serious’

I am planning a mud and barbed wire diorama base to finish it off.

Hey super job there! I’ve said before we don’t see enough Great War AFVs here (guess I should get off my butt and build a few). Really nice work, I’ve heard too that this kit is a bear to build but you’ve done a great job on her. Looking forward to seeing the dio!

Very nice work on the steel beast! [Y]

First off, I have to commend you for completing that kit. I bought one when I was stationed in Germany (Dec 87 to Dec 90) and never finished it. I got hung up on those dang tracks. I bought another one many years ago, but haven’t the nerve to try it again.

You’ve done a great job on that beast of a tank and a beast of a kit!

Super work, brilliant to see people finishing these kits, like many others I gave up.

Terry.

Thanks all for the kind comments. More filler than plastic on some part of that thing!

I have a kind of problem with not finishing a kit I paid good money for… I’m obviously an old fashioned tightarse

Nice looking german tank. Love the way that it turned out.
