Has anyone built this beast yet? I was looking through a magazine last night and came across a review on this build and to say I thought to myself “I MUST HAVE ONE” was a serious understatement!
The guy who did the build painted it the usual Panzer Grey but gave it a whitewash hairspray job and it just ooooozed pure class!
Now I’m not too ‘au fai’ with Tasca but I understand they are pretty a good manufacturer. Before I part with nearly £60 I’d like to hear from someone who’s built one. Any problems, good quality? I understand the tracks are pin assembly type like Fruils? I mean this Dragon Panther G cost £50, £90 with the Aber barrel and Fruils!
Any info or links to reviews would be great-I’ve read a few reviews via Google and am getting nothing but good feedback.
First of all, it is a Panzer II and not a III. Secondly, Tasca has a good reputation. Their Sherman line has set the standard for 1/35 model kits. They also made a few German armor kits, a PzKpfw II Ausf. L Luchs and Kublewagen that was reboxed by Dragon, that were highly regarded before they ventured into the Sherman line.
I haven’t bought nor built any of Tasca’s 1/24 Pz. II’s, but I have built their 1/35 Pz. II Luchs and it is FANTASTIC. DML may do small parts well, but on the basis of that one kit alone I’d say that Tasca’s small parts are better molded and sharper in detail.
I’m seriously considering getting the Pz. II F DAK version.
If Tasca ISN’T making the best kits currently out, I don’t think I’ve seen someone who does it better yet. The Shermans and the Luchs kits are outstanding.
It’s still a very new kit so there hasn’t been much time for them to get out in circulation and actually built. The example you point to is probably the best one out there right now in terms of seeing one built up. Like the others who’ve responded, I’ve built some of their 1/35 offerings and the engineering and quality is superb. There’s no reason to think they didn’t apply that same standard to this 1/24 offering. [;)]
Though I have not built their 1/24 offering, I have built one of their Shermans. It was exquisite! Yes the price may be a bit on the steep side but, everything you need is in the box. I also have a couple of their other shermans in the stash and upon perusal of their contents everything appears to be there. I do not know if this helps you but if their earlier releases are any indication of what they can do then their latest offering should not be any less so. IMHO.
