i know it was (somewhat) popular in wwii to take tank turrets and place them into a concrete bunker or on slabs
but is there any indication of the same use in modern times the reason i am asking is
i have an extra m60 -1a turret
There have been old Soviet tank turret bunkers in some of the Middle East countries and the Soviets used to use obsolete tank turret bunkers along the Chinese border.

Verlinden et al have a Panther turreted Concrete emplacement kit, and another with redundant french hotchkiss (?) type turret in their atlantic wall series.
There was an article by Zaloga(?) in the UK’s Military Modelling on a ‘wolf’s lair’ wiederstand bunker, a pre-fab metal mg position which was just dug into ground. Also available as a kit, & if i remenber right, the article had some pics of it being fecovered by an M26 Dragon wagon. I will try & find it.
Raking my memory, I once saw in a ‘military review’ type mag, possibly Jaynes, an article about fixed turrets in Swiss Service. details were sparse, so happy hunting.
Offhand I know they did use Centurian gun-tanks, or was that the norweigans?

I haven’t seen anything from modern wars and emplacements that’s comparable to the turret bunkers from around WWII. I wouldn’t know as much about Russian bunkers or various other countries after WWII, but I’ve never heard of an M60 turret being used. there’s only two places I could see it used in such a way. either in Israel, or in Vietnam. but the war’s Israel faought made such fixed positions very vulnerable to aircraft and AT missles. You could probably try googling about such a bunker for those war periods/areas. that’d be where I’d look.
The Austrians have used a variety of turrets for this purpose including Charioteer, T34-85 and Centurion. Here’s a link to their bunker museum:
I’ve never seen any using modern US tanks, but you could just build it anyways.
