TANK TRANSPORT

I am looking for some info on a heavy transport for a M110 8" howitzer other than the newer HEMETT. I need tractor and trailer nomenclacter

Thank You

the FRG had them until '93. maybe the german transporter would work.

Sadly, my reference materials are still packed away.

Memory says it’s a 10 ton semi tractor in the M1nnn range with a M-1000 low-boy trailer

But, that may be the HET (M-1070) combo that I’m recalling.

Going to wiki’s list of all “M-” vehiclss, it’s probably an M757 or M626 truck with an M-670 trailer.

But, I’d not be surprised if some were moved with one of the 7½, 8, or 10 ton prime movers and a dolly/caisson to haul an M15 low-boy… What with red-legs often having to work with what they have, not what is supposed to be on TOE.

Oh, and if you mean a USMC M-110, probably you need an M-123 10 ton truck and the M-640 low-boy (although a commercial-off-the-shelf drop-front lowboy in tan or OD is as equally likely for MC/USN use.

Ah, wiki to rescue–en.wikipedia.org/…/Heavy_Equipment_Transport_System

the C-HET, M746 or M911 truck pulling the M-747 semi-trailer is the by-the-book answer.

This dates from late 70’s to 1993, when the M1070 + M1000 replaces it.
