Actually I just need the front section of an Allied WW2 1/35 scale tank, preferably one with an impressive gun barrel. I’d hate to buy a whole kit since I only need the front section. I think it would be cool to create a dio of a building façade, all bombed up but still standing, and have a concealed tank inside with just the gun protruding thru the a darkened doorway of a storefront or church. Pretty dramatic and a fun way to show a tank w/o showing (or having to build and paint) the whole thing. If anyone has such parts, I’d be willing to work a deal. Also kinda looking for the building section (Verlinden?) but I may have to build it myself since it cant be too low otherwise people wont get the “joke.” Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Very few Allied tanks had that impressive of a gun tube. You’re probably looking for an M26 Pershing or one of the Soviet heavies.
For the building, I’d check Squadron.com’s clearance pages (link at the bottom of their home page). The have 135th Construction Battalion building items on sale. You could probably build a factory from the bits they are selling.
Yeah, can’t think of much other than a M36’s 90mm or a Firefly’s 17pdr.
You can often find junk tank models on eBay, sold “as is”. Or older ones going for cheap.
May I also suggest NOT to mimic what you’ve seen in movies and comic books? A tank, hiding in the ruins of a bombed out building, would run the risk of having said building call on it once its main cannon was fired. Also would run the risk of getting stuck in rubble. Neither are ingredients to longevity.
