Tamiya's WWII Line-up

And the Lorna also has a limited run kit in 1/72nd scale but nothing in 1/48th as far as I know.

The gaps in Tamiya’s fighter series are, for the most part, covered sufficiently by other manufacturers such as the P-39, P-61, etc. However, if Tamiya would like to come out with a brand new kit that hasn’t been made as an injection molded kit before, I’d love to suggest a 1/48 scale XP-67 Moonbat and an XP-75 Eagle. And if they could do it while keeping it in the mid to lower double digits price-wise, that would be even better. But I know I’m asking the impossible.

Yeah, it’s kind of a hybrid of the JU-88 and Do-17.

Ok here are my Ki-83 and Q1W1. Both 1/72nd and limited run. I pulled the parts out and looked at them again- not the best kits I’ve ever seen but the only game in town right?

While we’re talking about Imperial Japanese aircraft not only would I like to see a Yokosuka P1Y Gina (Milky Way- FRANCES) but a Mitsubishi Ki-21 (SALLY), Kawasaki Ki-48 (LILY), and Mitsubishi-46 Hiryu (Flying Dragon- PEGGY) in 48th. After all they’re all twin engine planes and only about the size of a B-25 or so.

And does anyone make a model in 72nd of a Nakajima G8N Renzan (Mountain Range - RITA) 4-engine bomber or the Nakajima G10N1 Fugaku (Mount Fuji) 6-engine America bomber?

And though all this stuff is experimental and only one or two were built they were frelling cool.

Rikugun Ki-93 (fighter/ground attack)

Nakajima J5N1 Tenrai (Heavenly Thunder)

Tachikawa Ki-94

Nakajima Ki-87

Mansyn Ki-98

Some of these are available in 72nd scale limited run kits but I can dream of 48th can’t I? [whstl]

If anyone should decide to do a Imperial Japanese GB I’m in guys…

P-40N !!!

and a judy…

I don’t know why people think Japanese AC are boring . Look at some of their camo schemes.

I like that Nakajima J5N1. Looks a bit like the KI-83.

I love Japanese A/C( avatar)…thought I was the only one there for awhile…that plane looks alot like the Ki-45 too.

I love some of the schemes. Something about the home-defense markings with hinomarus on white bands.

BACHEM BA 349 NATTER!

they have got to make this thing, lol

i was playing a game (bf1942 secret weapons of ww2 demo) and saw a strange plane “the natter” googled it and liked it.

Dragon already did this in 1/48 some years ago. If you look hard enough, you may find one.

Yeah, like $150 to boot!

I would agree an Avenger (although just ordered the Italeri), Hurricane, Kate (torpedo version from PH) some short run kits. In fact this brings up a whole new issue, when is somebody going to pickup the Classic Airframes mantle of “unique” aircraft and run with those molds?

Still, that’s very little… About as much as saying the Ju 88 looks a little like the Do 17… [;)]

If you show an aircraft ID class-type silhouette of both the Do-17 and Ju-88 along with it, I doubt anyone would pick the Dornier… 'Course, there’s always that ONE guy that tries to rationalize…[:P]

and he usually tends to be a little more buff due to those extra push ups…[whstl]

How about a P-63? Over 3000 built and saw lots of combat on the Eastern Front…

I don’t think they are boring, they just don’t do it for me…

What the &*^%? Just kidding. [:D]

I’ve always liked them as a kid. I think it was Tora Tora Tora that started me out when I was about 7. My friends and I would draw planes in class. I always wanted something other then a Zero (got the Monogram kit from my teacher as a reward in class!), but they were hard to find and somwhat spendy (to a kid with no allowance [:'(]). Now it’s unlimited. I just need to get some on the shelf. I really like the fighters, so eye-appealing, especially the KI-84 Frank.

Love the two engine fighters like the Nick too. The jungle schemes are cool, but scary to replicate with an AB.

Finemold’s Judy is a PITA.

I built one about 3 years back and it fought me all the way, because of all the inserts used in the contruction, most of which don’t fit.

Looked good once finished, and it’s a great looking plane, especially with the inline engine, but not a shake & bake kit.

As for the Lorna, Finemolds do this in 1/72, and it supposed to be stunning.

As for new 1/48 Tamiya, it’d be nice to see more of the eclectic Japanese types, or how about a nice Me 163 to go with their 262 & 162?

How about a Ki-108 Randy?

http://ww2drawings.jexiste.fr/Files/2-Airplanes/Axis/3-Japan/01-Fighters/Ki-108Randy/Ki-108-Kai-Randy.htm

i love japanese WWII AC. J5…yes, we need one and also a A6M8. love the large cowling. [:D]

Yeah… And a former Phase-Two Recycle…

Now THAT one I’d actually pay 20-25.00 for… And it needs to be done, not necessarily by Tamiya (You pay a LOT for the name, regardless of your opinion on kit-costs), but anyone could do it… Even Revell/Monogram could with the same amount of detail the P-39 has (and it would be just FINE)…

Too many folks think it’s “a P-39 with a four-bladed prop”, though… It’s actually bigger all-around than the 'Cobra, and would have to be a total kit… I’d need two… One regualr King, and one for an “Operation Pinball” aircraft. Every collection needs an orange fighter in it…

The CAF has one that’s airworthy, with another one under restoration…
