I’ve been real busy these past months and haven’t really posted, so now I’m playing catch up. Ok this one I just sprayed the base coat of dark yellow today, yesterday was dark green to check everything over and add a little depth to the zimm. Oh, the zimm is my first time doing it by myself using Squadron putty, I’m pretty happy with the results especially for my first attempt. I’ve been absolutely scared out of my mind to try it, but it’s not nearly as hard as I thought that it would be. However, it IS very messy though. Another OOB build except for Eduard screens on the deck.
Again thank you for your comments. I haven’t really picked a camo pattern yet, I didn’t think that far a head, was too busy worrying about how the zimm would look. I guess I’ll have to look around and see what takes my fancy.
Tigerman- I used Tamiya’s zimm rake tools and AFV club’s zimm roller tool also. Both worked real well.
Thanks guys. I have the roadwheels all on and was able to clean up all the tracklinks, so next step is to put some tracks on this baby. That will happen next modeling session, eyes and hands hurting from todays session, decals on a 109, roadwheels, cleanup of a bazillion track links, and weathering a Panzer II interior. Whew!!
It’s been a while, but some progress has been made. The roadwheels and tracks are on, decaled, tools are on, coaxial mg added to the empty hole on the turret and early stages of weathering are in progress.
Really starting to come alive with this latest round of detailing, but if you make the gang here wait another month before you update again they might start grabbing some pitchforks! Only kidding of course, definitely getting closer to the finish line with this one. [Y]

One thing I always wondered abut these mid Tigers is why they put a travel lock on the rear deck when they had the internal travel lock on the turret roof[^o)].
Thanks guys!! The delay is because I’ve got numerous builds on the bench right now. I’m just chipping away a little bit at a time on them, don’t want to rush.
I think I may be calling this one done . I’m quite pleased with my first attempt at doing my own zimm, but very messy. The resin sheets are so much easier(cavalier/atak).Well here she is, if you guys see something that I missed please let me know. I’ve been staring at it for weeks drawing a blank. Thanks.
Constuctor- First off, thanks. I actually used the kit supplied tracks(Tamiya). I think that I may have been referring to another build’s tracks or just the large amount of track links that were cleaned up that day. The Tamiya tracks are actually quite nice and only require minimal cleanup at the sprue attachment points.
Thanks for your reply Panzer88. The reason I asked you about the tracks is I am preparing to start on my DML Tiger I Late Production kit and I dont want to use the kit supplied tracks because of the solid guidehorns. I want to go all the way with this kit so I am asking around which is the best set of tracks to use. Of course I know about Friul.
