Tamiya's new Hetzer *WIP*

Hi Guys while awaiting my next big project to arrive i decided to make a start on this one which arrived the other day, this is my first hetzer and from what i see in the box it is going to be a nice kit, first up is a quick look in the box.

the boxart.

the sprues.

and the version i think i will do but not 100% sure yet

note there are two types of tracks included, a link and length type with sag included and the rubber band style which seem to me to be softer than there usual ones but i still wont be using them i will be going with the link and length ones. More to follow.

Ron.

Looks great, I’d go w/the link and length style too.

If you go w/that camo style, I’d love to see a step-by-step on how you mask and paint.

There must be a really cute girl working in the rubber band track division. That must be why they continue with that medium. (I guess they could always retrain her).

Hi Ron, you little devil. I got this guy on pre-order from Greatmodels because I needed some other stuff. Of course I will be watching with envy. I’ve always liked this little guy and he won’t take up much valuable shelf space either. LOL

[%-)] Did I miss something? [|(] Where’d that TIGER I go…?

Tiger? What about the T-70??[%-)] Ron, you are a MACHINE!!

ps1 i hate to hurt her feelings heh but im still not using her tracks [:)]

Eric if this kit goes together anything like the char b1 did i will be happy and like you i have a fondness for this vehicle.

Steve the Tiger 1 was finished and can be found here http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=1630 also i will be doin another exclusive for armorama on the new 234/3 from Dragon which is the “next big project” i mentioned and i am quite excited about i love those 8 wheelers.

edit you replyed while i did heh the T-70 is in the paintshop the build bench is clear and that is unheard of there must be at least one build going at all times and at least one in the paintshop at all times its the law,

Ron.

Or alternatively, they could be trying to appeal to a broader model making audience, and thus increase sales and revenues. I personally think its excellent that they include both the easy to use rubber band style tracks as well as the link-and-length kind for those who want the additional detail.

I admit that that is possible, and it may be a new and better direction for Tamiya, but I prefer thinking of cute Japanese girls.

[%-)]Alright doggone it. [banghead] Now how am I gonna keep tabs on your builds if you start posting all over the net? Huh… Huh… [(-D] now just tell me that. I had twenty with the grille.

The Tiger’s 21 and the hetzer is 22… oh [D)]what the heck, you build tanks like some kinda demented chain gun only it’s tanka, tanka, tanka, tanka, tanka, tanka …

[(-D] – tanka, tanka ,tanka-- that cracks me up man[(-D]-- Ron- you are incredible !

OOOH! Ya got me fired up now to get mine done! [:P]

Actaully I’ve been working away on it, and have resolved not to post it until it’s at 100% completion!

Geez, with roosterpelo’s Hetzer in production as well, that’ll make three lil’ Hetzers hitting these forums around the same time! ROO!!–GET WORKING ON YOURS TOO AND WE’LL HAVE A HETZER PARTY!!![#toast]

Bring them all on Doog!

Hmmm, did I smell a Hetzer GB Party coming ? [party]

Ben

Wow, and here I was about to buy the old DML Hetzer…when is this kit finally going to be released?

Oh, and I’m definitely in for a Hetzer GB! [tup]

Oh, please don’t tempt me… Oh, I might have an early for sale…[:-^] That’s what happens when you jump the gun. I knew if I got one, Tamiya would finally release one.

A spare DML 6030 just hanging around, soon to be neglected? Let me help you clean out that stash, Tigerman! Shoot me some good numbers and all of those duplicate/re-issued/damaged box kits can be gone! I’m only up to 30 kits in the closet…that’s barely enough for 2 years…much less enough to hold me until I die.

sorry a little behind on reading all the threads.

doog, HA! a hetzer party! sounds like a great idea. i’m still a churning away on mine. i have to start the weathering on it soon. hopefully tomorrow i can get a coat of future on it and get to the meat and potatoes. i forewarn you, i don’t have any of the little metal tiedowns on the side as i’m suppossed to. they are all PE, and i got really frustrated with trying to get them the right bend, then gluing them on with as little CA as possible, so after a few beers later, i nixed it and started the painting process. well the next morning, i awoke to see my camo painted hetzer with all the side tiedowns not on. beer and building don’t mix very well [D)]!! anyway, i’m gonna roll with it. they were out of tiedowns at that factory. pics to soon be posted

biffa, i can’t keep up with all the builds man. i find myself still going back to your T-34 for your great tutorials. looking forward to seeing some more of this little guy. amazing how tiny these things were. lets get some pics up soon huh? [zzz]

That’s OK Roo; they WERE a $&%*! to get bent correctly and get on !

Hey, if ya want, you could simulate them by stretching some sprue real thin, and then cutting it up into little 2mm pieces and then just use a good #11 blade touched to 'em and they’ll stick right to it; carefully dip 'em into a drop of CY glue and touch 'em right in place! At least you won’t be lacking a conspicuous little detail there–besides, they’re great for dripping down rusty/dirty streaks from!

BTW, guys…I can’t start a Hetzer GB in good conscience being that I’m really 96% done with mine…but y’all are free to do the deed![#toast]

Okay, check your PM’s.

dang, did you say 96%? always a little short. mine is like 95.33333% anyway, i’ll git-r-done soon. doog i still have some of the handles, i’m just worried that they aren’t painted yet, and the model is.
