Tamiya's 1/35th Jeep in the snow

Howdy all,

This is one of those builds that I let sit for a while and decided to complete… Over all she is OOB w/ the exception of the hood locks and the rag top which is from I believe Warriors…

Made the rag top posts from Evergreen rod… drilled out the exghaust as well as the clamps that hold the rods in place…

The base was on a wim… A couple of weeks go was our first general snow fall and I had a bright idea… Laughs…

For the snow, I used a mix of Baby powder and “Scale Simulation Snow”(now thats a mouth full) by Snow Coat or vise versa…[:P]

Since I wanted that first snow fall look, I wanted the road to have that sheen to it, not fully wet but almost… Does that make sense?

Anywho, I used future floor wax to simulate the wet effect on the road as well on the tires… The dirt on the Jeep and on the road was supplied by good ol “Mother Nature” herself…

In all I am pleased on how it came out… So I hope you all enjoy and any comments welcomed!!

As you can tell by some of the pix, the snow was well all over in certain cases… Darn camera!!

Thanks fer takin a peek!!

Wow man, that’s nice! The weathering looks spot-on and the snow is convincing. Good work!

Hey ski,

Thank you for the kind words… For my first time working w/ snow, I do not think it turned out all that bad…

Hey dox,

Glad that you liked… I too was leary on doing a snow dio then I just plunged into it. I am really not comfortable working w/ snow all that much but its a start right? Practice practice practrice I say!! Laughs

I think you did a good job on the mud too. All-in-all it’s a pretty effective build. Which scale is it?

ummm… it says 1/35 on the subject… yea…

but ditto on the job well done for the muddy wheels. though the base might benefit from a lil mushier muddy n deep trenches from almost a ton of metal digging into it.

Ryan & Tiger,

Thank you too kindly for the compliments… This was my first time using the “snow” effect so I am over all pleased… But for the next attempt, I will do a little more research and experimenting!!

dox,

Glad you liked once again… How did I make the snow stick? As I was laying it down, I was spraying hair spray…

This helped make it sticky enough so I could apply the snow… Hopefully this answers your question and if not, please let me know…

Thanks again fella’s!!

Nice build. [tup] I love the snow. Thats on my list to try.

One of the other comments was to add more mud or slop to the tires. If it was that muddy then the jeep might had snow chains also the path would have more of a rut in it from vehicles driving on it. The ruts would give depth to the base.

All in all I like it.

The counter point is I prefer at times to go flat rather than depth since I am trying to show the model not the dio. Either way it looks good

Rounds Complete!!
