Tamiya's 1/35 Leclerc at the Shizuoka Hobby Show (lotsa pix!)

Here’s a slew of pix of Tamiya’s excellent new 1/35 Leclerc I took at the show last weekend.
Very nice kit! I had a chance to talk to the fellow who designed the kit (thanks, Marc!), and was assured that every effort went into making it as accurate as possible. I certainly believe it!
Check out the pix:

Reckon I’ll have to get at least two…and I promised Marc I’d have at least one ready for the show next year!
The kit goes on sale here in Japan in July.

That’s a very nice kit. Is the tank crossing a bridge or something? It’s an interesting base.

Looks awesome. Thanks for the post.

Regards, Rick

Pretty impressive looking kit Brian. It’s good to see thar Tamiya is still kicking out some new stuff in 1/35 for us hard of seeing modellers. Hope they keep it up. Thanks for the pics, and look forward to seeing your first build of this kit. Semper Fi, Mike

Oh man, that’s a must-get. It looks like a hover tank or something. It’s so cool.

What is the vehicle in desert camo? Is it French or UAE?

check out those lights! This is pretty cool. the concensus at the LHS was kind of “ho-hum” or “who cares” but they obviously haven’t seen these pics. Thanks Brian

It sure is, but aren’t the lights some kind of special wiring – they don’t come standard in the kit, do they? (Be happy to be wrong, of course!)

it looks cool

Larry, I believe the desert camo is for vehicles in service with Qatar.

And nope, no lights with the kit, but all lenses are clear parts, so it’s just a simple matter of sticking a bulb in there!

Cool tank. Thanks for the pictures.
And I guess talking to a kit designer should be pretty interesting.

Whoa, Qatar bought Leclercs? They really stepped up to the plate! I thought they had a really tiny army with old equipment.

Very nice. Thanks for the pictures.

Hello everyone,

Brian, it was a pleasure to talk to you and I definately look forward to see your completed Leclerc next year.

The Leclerc in the desert camo was used in Qatar in 1998 to test the air conditionning but is actually a tank from the French army.

Marc

Dude I am sooooo getting that kit!! What about the Bridge Brian, is that another kit that may be available this year?! I am drooling at the possabilities!!

[V][V] Great another kit that I am going to have to try to get.

Hi, Marc! Thanks for taking the time to tell me all about the Leclerc at the show,
even if I forgot some of the actual information! So that tank was just in Qatar for testing, not in service with the Qatar army.

Sorry for the bum steer, Larry! [8)]

Hey, no problemo! It’d be nice to get some UAE decals in the box – the UAE did buy some Leclercs. Anyone know if they’re provided?

That kit looks awesome, What is the Leclerc’s country of origon? I dont know much about them.

Dave

The Leclerc is the newest of the Western MBTs, designed and primarily used by France.

thanks for the info larry
