Tamiya's 1/32 A6M5 WIP

Geeze Frank how’d I miss this one? Oh yeah don’t remind me…

It is everything I imagined you’d be doing plus more. Amazes me how you find ways to push a little further. Thanks for catching me up! I’ll try and behave myself…

LOL, thanks fellas! I wired up the fire control box, and the left cockpit side. No pics yet, but I promise I’ll post some later tonight or tomorrow. [:D]

Looking forward to the pics![8D]

Sorry it took so long to get some pics! Been very busy lately and am now just getting back to the Zero. I spent this afternoon finishing the wiring on the left console, and began painting the interior bits. I used a custom mix of Tamiya paints to approximate Nakajima interior color, and I think it’s pretty close. The weathering should add quite a bit more to it. I am waiting for the chrome to strip off of the chain I need for the left console, not sure if that is a flap control or ? Anywho, overnight in the vinegar and a little bit o’ fitting and the left side should be ready for paint. Here’s the left side so far:

And the other interior parts (some of them!) after a base coat of the interior color:

Here’s the chain before stripping:

It was donated by one of those little toy choppers at one of the big dept stores. [:D]

Wow you can definately tell your a master craftsman there Frank! That would drive me absolutely batty! OOPs too late I’m there already. Facinating how you wire all that up and have it lined up and curved so perfectly. So small too eeks. Better if I don’t think to hard about it! I think Shaggy said it best…" ZOINKS!"

Frank, the progress so far is outstanding[tup] Look forword to more updates.

Oh yeah, your attention to detail, Frank is just awesome. Your giving this baby the works for sure. Keep the pics a coming, big boy.

Aaron, Your Nutz. Its official.

Thanks for checking out my pics fellas! I tell you, I’m giving my 'visor a workout on this one. I’ve been wearing them so much, sometimes I forget I even have em on and walk outside to check the mail or something. The neighbors always look at me funny. (Well, more so that usual!)

Frank, PM inbound[;)]

Holy Moly…I do that too![(-D] Janey across the street points at her forhead…and I know I’ve done it again!

Your attention is detail is inspiring Frank!

My god Frank when I grow up can I build models like that too.[bow]

ROTFLMAO!!! That is good. Have you run into a door or anything yet? Believe me, I have…[B)]

Thanks guys, I’m glad you like! I put that durned chain in some apple vinegar to remove the chrome (all I had in the house!) but it’s not taking the chrome off. Time for plan B so I can keep moving. I started clipping the engine bits off the sprue today, YIKES!!! More wiring… [sigh] Better go steal borrow some more of Roger’s speaker wire. [swg]

Knocked it off with the front door…knocked it askew with a cupboard door…guess you can say I’ve been there and done that!

No less kudos on your build though!

Hmmmmm nope never did the optivisor thing? I do occassionally forget my pants though. [%-)]

Jeeze Aaron![(-D]…too much!

Been a long time since I did anything to this one! Guy has badgered me so much I felt compelled to work on it again. Thanks fella! [swg]

Have been busy lately with other projects; but after seeing this poor, neglected model weeping in the corner- I felt compelled to do a little on it today. I wanted to try some additional weathering techniques, so I grabbed one part (the amunition hopper/cartridge chute) and did a little extra to it. I added some rivet detail with a jeweler’s beading set (wonder where I found that!) then painted it in the cockpit color. After that dried, I added a subtle wash to pick out the detail. I mixed up a thin mixture of Tamiya NATO black and earth brown, then lightly sprayed this around the areas that are adjacent to the machine guns. A drybrushing with some dark gray, and voila! I like it, now I just gotta keep focused on it.

Looking good, Frank. I don’t know whether to envy you or feel sorry for you with all that detail, lots of work but it will pay off in the long run!

Geez if thats all it takes to get you motivated…GET YUR ASS IN GEAR FELLA, GEEZ, A MAN WOULD WAIT FOREVER FOR AN INSTALLMENT, WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU GOT BETTER TO DO THAN KEEP YOUR FANS HAPPY. Sorry, Had to do it. Oh, and the detail in the ammo chutes is amazing, mate. Nice job.

Thanks Mike! Yes, this kit looks like it could be both a blessing and a curse. [sigh] It will be interesting! [tup]

Guy- You’re right! I don’t have anything better to do LOL. Sorry to keep you waiting so long, promise it won’t be as long for the next update. [^]

Guess this thing is dead in the water? Two months now with no update…

Come on Frank!
