TAMIYA WORLD opens in Osaka!

Hi, folks![:)]

Just went over to check out the Tamiya website, and the main topic was the opening of Tamiya World here in Osaka on August 27!

3 floors of Tamiya products, plus hobby finishing supplies, books… you name it! And the best thing about it? It’s a 15-minute walk from my house here in Namba! [:D]

Here’s a quick pic of one of the floors from the Tamiya website:

Look at all those models!

I know, I know, ya’ll are thinking, “yeah, yeah, that’s great, J-Hulk…but most of us don’t live in Osaka!” Actually, Dean’s the only FSMer I know who lives around here…but what this means for the good of the FSM modeling community is now I have better access than ever to Tamiya staff, so I can do more to help ya’ll out with any questions or requests you might have concerning Tamiya and their products, moreso than I can do with the othe great hobby shops in the area that merely carry Tamiya products.

I can pop in to this new location on the way home from work any day of the week with a quick question for the Tamiya staff, and have the answers posted that night![:D]

So, as always, if there’s anything I can do to help ya out (short of setting up a distributorship!) from my position here in Japan, feel free to contact me. I’ll do my best to answer or get the answers to any questions you might have.

THREE FLOORS OF TAMIYA!!! [:D][:D][:D][:D]
I’ll give ya the shop report tomorrow![:p]

When you’re talking with them as you’re making you’re twice daily trip just to smell the plastic. Keep whispering in the ears … SEXTON …SEXTON …SEXTON.

Maybe someone will get the hint.

P.S. Did I mention the word Sexton

Sexton? What, one of those things mariners use to plot their positions at sea using the heavenly bodies? Oh, that’s a SEXTANT.

Baddaboom.
Thank you, thank you, I’m here all week![:D]

Of all the unemployed comedians in the world … I get stuck with you !!! [:p]

Well I think I can top that, Hulk
Just for your information, this Saturday is the grand opening of Larry’s Sunoco Station here…3 service bays plus coloring books in the waiting room. The first 50 customers will get a free map of the town and a squeegee.

Just wanted to let you know you’re not the only one who lives within 15 minutes of Heaven…[:)]

You lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky git!

DITTO THE ABOVE ! (don’t you just LOVE the smell of styrene in the morning ?)

Hiya guys…Ohhhhhhhhhhh I have to go and check that out…The shop near my house is a real hardcore model shop…Some amazing stuff in there a lot of english books and I mean a lot!
Hitting the booze on sat night in Shinsaibashi…with a bunch of lonely girls. Interested J-hulk. Ring me!

Dean

Are you SURE you don’t want to set up a distributorship/import business???[}:)] We could make a killing.[:0]
Just think, living in the lap of luxury, fast cars, hot woman, fine wine, hot tubs all day long. [;)] We could make Tamiya famous.

Oh yea, they already are. Oh well it was an idea anyways[:p]

While your at it whisper, Crusader and Valentine, more British tanks needed. [:D] Are you gonna pitch a tent there? [:p]

“It is well that war is so terrible, lest we grow too fond of it.”-R.E.Lee

sigh I guess I will have to move Osaka.

Wow! Three whole floors . Not one, not two but THREE .
15 minutes , man that must be nice. How does the book section look?
fuzzy

J-HULK.
Please let me take this oppotunity to suck up as much as possable and say that I think you are my new best friend.

Please tell us what you find there?

I am always looking for that stuff that is not sold in the states.

Oh, merlinV1650

You need to get out more!

Hey hey!

Look at all them there responses![8)] And all the new friends I have![:D][:D][:D]

I’m at work now, so I haven’t had a chance to check the place out yet.
Since most of the shops around here carry the full line of Tamiya kits, what I’m most excited about with this shop is the proximity of bona-fide Tamiya staff, if that is indeed who will be staffing the place. With a name like Tamiya World, I’m kinda expecting that! There also might be seminars and contests and other fun Tamiya events (like the 1/16 RC tank test drive sessions they had in Shizuoka!!).

Hopefully I can get over there tonight or sometime this weekend and give ya’ll a full report.

Unless Dean beats me to it! [;)]
Dean, have you been to Hobbix (the old location) in Den-Den Town? I think Tamiya World is just a coupla blocks down from that location.

What shop near you are you talking about? Around Nishinomiya? I haven’t visited any shops around Kobe, but that sounds like a good 'un!

I’ll give ya a call, Dean, but this weekend is Anniversary weekend, so I’m fully booked with my very non-lonely Honey!!! Enjoy the booze and crazy Shinsaibashi Saturday night! Watch out for the army of hosts around Ebisu (nampa) Bashi!! [;)]

Merlin, did you say that Sunoco station had coloring books?? And people say American businesses have forgotten about service!![:D]

Darn you, James…I thought I was your best friend! [;)]

And as for me needing to get out more, I’ve already tried that and I found out that there are… p-p-p-people out there! [:D]

Steady, boys!

Weeeellll, as close as that shop is, didn’t make it by this weekend!
“Commitments,” you know!

Will try this week and see what they got!

Ooooooh, yes! That’s a cool shop!
Tons of everything…and more![:D]

And the main thing I was hoping for is true: Tamiya staff, putting on Tamiya-sponsored events! This Sept 6 and 7 is an airbrushing seminar, where you can get hands-on experience and tutelage in the arts!

The fine Tamiya staffers are happy to answer all Tamiya-related Qs, too.

Good deal![:D]

Gads, I’m so envious right now. Why couldn’t I live in Japan. It would be kinda nice being a giant all the time, well, I’m already a giant all the time, but not like I would be there. I do like to eat beef an awful lot though, and I hear it’s pretty expensive over there. Ah well, I’ll have to settle for Oklahoma for a more years until I move to Texas.

Enjoy your Tamaya shop J-Hulk!! You gonna go to the airbrushing seminar? A person can almost always learn something at such an event.

madda

Hi, Madda! [:)]
I’d love to go to that seminar, but I’m working Saturday [V] and the 17th annual Kansai Armor Modeler’s Meeting is Sunday [:D], so I’m booked! [;)]
Too bad, since I use a Tamiya AB.

You a big fella too, Madda? I’m 6’ 5" and 260 pounds (they all say that on the Web, eh?), which ain’t really that big back home! When I’m back in the States for visits, I always feel so…so…normal!
But, still a giant here![^]

Ah, you can get reasonabe beef here.
Kobe, Matsuzaka, or Ohmi beef are the expensive “brands” you might’ve heard about. Those aren’t the “brand” names, but rather the names of the areas where the beef’s from.
