Tamiya Weathering Sticks

I bought the tamiya mud stick a year ago and i haven’t used it I am just wondering if anybody has any experience using them and if the results are any good. I am buidling a model that has basically been just one huge experiment and I am thinking that i might want to use this mud stick.

I’ve used them for weathering a recent Sci-Fi project. I found them OK, but I would under no circumstances recommend them. I do have tons of MIG pigments, but like most I spend time grinding pastels.

The results from Tamiya stuff.

Hope this was helpful.

i didn’t see anywhere where the mud stick was used on that model, of course i could just not be paying attention. It was an awesome build though.

I use them occassionally. apply it to where you want it, not too heavy, but not too light either, then take a short stiff brush and scrub it back and forth, or the direction it would fall off the vehicle (for instance, lower hull sides, scrub the stuff at an angle towards the back).

Depending on how much you use, the results can be quite effective, but only put 'em on flat paint surfaces, they’ll shine otherwise. Also, you may want to put a layer of chalk dust or powdered pastels over them afterwards.

I used them on this Skif T-64. I applied direct from the stick then used a paint brush wet with water to spread the stuff to get the effect I wanted. I did end up also putting on some Mig Pigments as well.

If you want a good mud effect, these things are the way to go.

wow, those results are really encouraging! thankyou for sharing.
