Hi! Guys, I’m fairly new in scale modelling and currently I’m in the midst of building a Tamiya Israeli Tank Tiran 5 1/35. I just finished gluing all parts and will be ready for priming by tomorrow. Will be posting progress.

Always find it interesting to see how a successful(?) design concept can survive for ages.

This is pretty much what the T-90 looks like today mechanically.

Grandma KV-1 and grandpa T-34 would laugh there heads off - what has the Design Bureao actually added over the last 80 years?

Thanks! Yup ths is definitely a “T-55” haha.

I also thought of that, Exp Design Bureau may have forgotten the idea of revolutionizing it’s machines and got stuck with “If ain’t broke, why fix it.”

Update: I already primed my kit with Mr. Surfacer 1000 light gray, using my DIY’ed spraybooth.

Next, applying base coat detail painting.

Looks good. I always wondered why Tamiya’s outstanding T-55 that was originally released in December 2002 didn’t get follow up variants until now. Seems like Tamiya is on a Vietnam and IDF kick.

Ok it’s update #3:

Already painted the kit w/ with XF-49 Khaki and XF-66 Light Gray (1:1).

Hand painted the road wheels, next step - more detail painting, adding washes, and figure painting.

That mix looks perfect. Is it a mix from the instruction sheet or something you came up with?

George thats one good looking Tiran, I haven’t really given a thought to this kit but Tamiya adds lot of detail there, I need one for my shelf real soon. Its coming along great, the washes will bring it right to life.

That’s coming along real nice. How is your custom spray booth performing for you? Incorporating a bathroom fan was a good idea.
