Tamiya T62, Is it a good kit?

Tamiya T62, Is it a good kit? Quality, fit, seams and such.

Not really. It’s old, designed for motorization and developed when T-62s were not readily available for western aligned nations to inspect. But, it’s the only choice in 1/35 scale. I recently listed a bunch of aftermarket parts I bought to attempt to bring my kit up to snuff.

Parts that really are necessary are tracks and a photoetch set to add detail simplified or missing. There are also some turret dimensions that purist will try to repair or replace. I’d like to see a modern kit put on the market.

I’m building this kit at the moment as my first armour subject and the fits not bad for an old kit main prob i have found is mantlet cover which is a very poor fit to the turret, seams need a bit of filller on barrel and drums on back and to join the turret halfs, it really depends on how far you want to go with it , i could easly spend a 100 hours on this kit but i brought it cheap to practice on. then again i’m used to building cars where everthing has to be perfect, so just build and enjoy. Regards Bob.[8D]

hi the best advice is not to buy it , then when sales go down , tamiya may make decent one , not worth the effort in building one to be honest cheers ian

Verlinden Kit # 1627 is a update kit for that model. It features a new turret, barrel and photo etch parts. I paid around 30$ for the kit and was worth it.

I have the T-62A, if it’s the same kit, and it really isn’t too bad. It could use a little updating, but for a leisurely build, not bad at all.
