Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Vb 'Trop' 18 bucks!!

i Just came back from the loal Hobby Lobby with a great catch: Tamiya’s 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire, Mk. Vb ‘Trop’ for $18![8D]

One issue…

I’d rather depict this model in the European Theatre than the African…

Anybody tried this w/ this kit?

BTW, the kit looks typically Tamiya - clean, very well molded parts, bad paint destructions…

Any thoughts on this?

Converting that kit to a European Theatre Spit is quite easy. Here’s a link to a page from HLJ on the standard Mk.Vb. GO down to “assembly guide”, and you can view the instructions for that kit and see which parts to use instead. [tup]

Nice score. As I recall, the kit comes with 2 types of air filters which would not be used on a non-trop version. I think the kit includes the correct part for a non-trop, so all you do is use that & put the trop filters in the spares box.

I’m actually building a re-issue of the Revell-Monogram Mk.II, and found it lacking. Nice kit, but Tamiya’s kit has much better detail, fit, etc…

I’m planning on finishing the R-M before tackling the Tamiya…
